I think the ruck duel is massively over-rated. Walls always says how important it is, which means it's not at all.

The ruckman simply needs to be competitive and stop the opposing ruckman getting easy taps direct to their midfielders, and not giving away stupid free kicks. Apart from that, the ruckman needs to fill in around the ground taking marks or just being a presence.

The game is won in other parts of the ground besides the ruck duels.
