    TV rights

Good to see that 7 & 10 will be able to combine a bid.

The sooner 9 gets the a*se the better. As long as 9 has League in Sydney, AFL will always run a distant second. They will never promote it appropriately in Sydney.

Do you reckon they are any worse than 7 were in their day? Not much in it I reckon.

10 have certainly been the most committed to the Sydney market.

I agree but 7 are going to guarantee Friday Night Footy at 8.30 in the northern states according to the reports that I've heard. That'll be good for the game. The Swans and Lions are pretty much part of the sporting "landscape" in Sydney & Brisbane - now they need to work on promoting the game itself.

Also, no Eddie commentating has got to be a good thing

Fair call. I personally don't mind Bruce. The main thing that he has in his favour is that he loves the game - Eddie hates it. All Eddie does is whinge when he commentates - even if the Pies aren't playing. Same deal with the Footy Show - he's always searching for something negative.

I so hope that is true. I only watching Friday night NRL to console myself for the lack of a Friday night AFL game at that time.

Strewth I thought it was bad having to put up with the Super 12 - if I start watching the NRL on Friday night's I will officially be a sporting tragic.

I wish I could watch Super 12 instead of NRL.

I was thinking that too until I realised that I normally go out on Friday's and get home just as 9s replay is starting. So I'd actually miss it on 7

                    Good for the game though.

I thought that I read in the Fin Review today that the AFL was angling for Friday night live in the northern States. Now, that would really put the cat amongst the pigeons....

CHANNELS Ten and Seven may think they have blown Nine out of football's broadcast rights auction, but stand by for TV's No. 1 network to launch a heavy counter bid.

I read that article but the indications are that the AFL would not consider Nine's Friday night options acceptable.

They have an extra $300K to spend after last nights events.
