    Dammit!

Looks like some prime beef is moving off the menu

Would really have liked to snag Lenny back home.

EDIT: Oh and I love the line from Grant: "You've got to put all the facts on the table and the fact is, `What price do you pay for success?'." Problem is.... none of the Saints players can come close to answering that

Thomas only says "talking with Lenny at the moment" so it's not a done deal yet. I reckon $350K or so might have some chance.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."

      Re: Dammit!

It would be good to have Lenny back home but wasn't he angry at us for not drafting him? Or maybe that was just something I read on BigFooty

The salary cap issue with sides like St Kilda, Geelong and Melbourne will be interesting in the next few years. Everyone seems to be talking about keeping their players for less money by following the Brisbane model but they actually need to win the flag to do that - players won't stay for less money if they aren't going to win something.

They don't seem to realise that they can't all win the flag each year and West Coast has perhaps surpassed them all.

How long will Dal Santo, Ball, Hayes, etc, keep playing for $300 000 per year if they don't win the flag - especially when they may be able to get close to twice that elsewhere.

He was and probably still is.

If he wants to come home badly enough, he'll get over it. If he doesn't want to come home badly enough... there's nothing we can do about it. The ball is in Lenny's court... he knows he is welcome, and will almost certainly be using that fact in his negotiations with the Saints.

The fact is that the Swans have not yet proved themselves worthy of such a home comming. Until they do I don't think that anyone can blame a player of Lenny's stature from wanting to be at the heart of AFL action.

anyone mention the words "drafting duds", and footyhead's here faster than you can say "the swans have won more premierships than his beloved st kilda".

Interesting that Grant Thomas does the contracts, very much like GM does in the NBA.
