I like the thought of limiting interchange so that positions and matchups become a part of the game again, rather than having 15 running players in your side and just mix and match them anywhere on the ground. It will also make coaches think a little harder than they have to now about getting things right, coz they don't have 50 opportunities a game to do it.

Exhausted players that can't come off freely are more likely, one would think, to sustain an injury than players who can still run in the fourth quarter. Bizarre suggestion, really.

I thought this rule was trialed and rejected by the coaches in the Wizzer Cup in 2004?? If the coaches thought it was so pointless then, why would they even think of agreeing to it now?

Stupid idea - would be a real pain to monitor, and yet another pointless thing for boundary "riders" to waffle on about.

Perhaps a distraction from the priority pick issue...?

There is an argument that more interchanges increases the chance of injury for players on the ground as the pace of the game remains high.

Funny u should mention that - they had an old Norths/Hawks game on FF Vault last nite. Demetriou was hilarious, looking like part of the chorus line from "Fiddler on the Roof". Some useful players going around in that game tho including a bunch of AFL coaches (Matthews, Ayres, Bucky, Wallace, Schwab & our own Jonas for North) - the umpiring & the bouncing were also noticeably better than today.
