    GF ticket allocations

    GF Ticket allocation from afl.com.au:
    Competing Club Members 16000 - 25000
    AFL Clubs (16 x 1000) 16,000
    MCC Reserve 16000 - 25000
    AFL Members 10000 -18000
    AFL/Medallion Club Members 5,000
    AFL Entitlements 4000 - 6000
    AFL Contractual Obligations 4000 -6000
    Competing Clubs 1500 - 2500

    Total = 95,000
    link:http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=afl...ticleid=221186

So depending on how many they decide to allocate to competing clubs, we could get as little as 8,000 and as many as 12-13,000.
The competing club members get tickets based on how many members each club has - given WC and Adelaide both have huge membership numbers, we're screwed

Like the queue-pooling idea Des - I have to work on Saturday, so I'm contemplating sending my mum to the SCG (who's also a member) to line up for the queue tickets!

I'm not sure on the exact figure but it will be under 5,000 to Full members (without Sydneysider or Premiership Club memberships) because an 8,000 AFL member allocation is generous.

The ticket allocation wasn't such a drama in 2003 as the Premiership Club category didn't exist.

The letter from the Swans that was sent out yesterday said that there will be two types of queue tickets. Sydneysider and Premmy Club members who have GF guarranteed and Full Club (preferred GF category). If you're not in one of these two categories then find a nice television venue.

That's assuming IF and that's a big If the Swans can knock over the Saints. Otherwise we're all watching the GF on telly!!!!!
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

      So few?
I know they have to look after the coporates/sponsors and the AFL members but it is such a shame that about 20% of the spectators will be fans of the competing teams. It is such a low number.

Might have to bite the bullet next season and fork out the extra for the premiership club membership.
      Bring it on!

Bas, I'm a premmy club member and haven't yet seen a letter advising of the arrangements. Can you elaborate a little for us. When and how did it arrive (ie email or snail)

        thanks

Thats why they reckon the Prelim Final is the best game of the year for atmosphere and high stakes. Mostly all fans of the 2 competing clubs.

The absolute crime in those allocations is the club allocations. There is absolutely no reason why non-competing clubs should get 1,000 tickets each. Give them 100 tickets - one for each member of staff and perhaps a corporate box for close corporate partners - and give an extra couple of hundred to the competing clubs. That leaves about 14,000 extra tickets for competing clubs' members.

So true, but it is estimated the clubs make as much as $500,000 from those tickets as they sell them for $500 to a $1,000 each and throw in a breakfast as well. It is $10,000 for a table of 10 at the AXA North Melbourne breakfast which includes a ticket to the game.

Can't see the Kanga's or Dogs being too happy with losing that revenue stream.

There was talk that the AFL were locking to increase the dividend and drop the tickets, but it has been all quiet on that front.

Ebay or win a competition where GF tickets are given away.
