Three U.S players here trying out

Doesn't seem to have been mentioned here anywhere.

Did see them on the replay of the game from Friday night.

You'd have to go with the Cisco kid.

Can we fit all 3 in somehow.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

For American football players, if you don't make the high school team, you'll most likely never play the game. If you make the high school team but don't get a college scholarship, you'll most likely never play the game again. If you earn a college scholarship but don't get drafted to the NFL (yep, you guessed it) you'll most likely never play the game again.

The cost of playing the game - grounds maintenance, equipment etc. means they just don't have the grass roots, community football as we have in Australia.

However, the sheer weight of numbers (US population = circa 300 million) means there are many fine athletes that are scratching around looking for something to do with their testosterone.

As a small nation with many sports competing for the limited number of elite athletes, it makes sense that we look abroad to supplement available locals. Mike Pyke is the living proof that this can be achieved and the Swans are smart to be looking for the next international convert.

Not sure why, but the pin was pulled before the season started.
There was a thread on him, it might be in there.

I listen to 5 different AFL podcasts over the course of the week to make my 2.5hr round trip to/from work a bit more bearable. Last week on one of them (maybe the Coodabeens?) they interviewed a guy in Fort Lauderdale because the US AFL C'ships were being played. He specifically mentioned Starling and told the interviewers that he was setup to come to the Swans but complications with a leg injury put a stop to the dream. Of course the interviewers had nfi about Starling and I suspect may have been wondering if the guy in the US was taking the piss...
