AFLW 2024: R6B Sydney v Geelong, 3.05pm AEDT Sunday 6 October Henson Park

Back home at Henson Park, for our 3rd match in 10 days. Playing Geelong in the annual Pride Game, first day of daylight saving.

    Just one change.

    SYDNEY

    In: Paris McCarthy
    Out: Montana Beruldsen (omitted)

Montana Ham stil out rehabilitating injured foot. Gowans says they are being ultra cautious and won’t play her till she is 100% fit.

Should be a good afternoon with food, beverages and fun for kids at Henson Park and after match discounts at supporting venues.

I noticed today on Swans site that an electric bus will be available to pick up members and fans with a match ticket from Sydenham Station. Times listed here:

Beruldsen is interesting, she had a lot of fun in the VFLW just burning off opponents, but she gets no such latitude in the AFLW. I didn't see her striking Mia Busch - any idea what the circumstances were Meg?

No RnR, the fine was a surprise to me. The camera work is pretty limited for the women’s matches so the incident presumably wasn’t captured.

It's a shame that Ham is still out, as I thought that her finishing might have made a difference against Essendon. She's probably our best hope of making up for the absence of Molloy.

Unusual for a player to be omitted once the League had deemed the incident worthy of just a fine. She certainly added some life to the forward line even if polish is missing.

Another so close result - its been a frustrating season in so many ways, but never for lack of effort! Sadly let down by a few skill errors in that last quarter - especially that miss from a slight angle with a few minutes to go. The cats however did miss a lot of shots, so game probably was a lot closer than it should have been.

Just proving to be one of those seasons.

Pretty sure it was a deliberate thump to the stomach of the Essendon player that was caught on camera. I can’t recall exactly when it was but both players were in the forward pocket to the left on screen. Since that means we were kicking to the left on screen, that narrows it down to half the game.

                Ta Liz.

                Another not unmeritorious loss.

Mitchell is continuing to improve, she was even entrusted with some kick-outs this week.

Cynthia Hamilton's eyecatching run through traffic halfway throught the 1st quarter should have been a highlight reel moment, if only she'd remembered to bounce the ball.

Although Hurley was good there, I'm not sure spending 3 quarters up forward was the best use of her talents.

This is the 3rd time this season that Privitelli has muffed a set shot within range and with less than a 45' angle by opting to kick around the corner. Why is she opting to do this when she's the most reliable drop-punt shot for goal in the entire club (Swans AFL and AFLW)?

Disappointing to lose to Geelong by just three points but there was a lot to like over the course of the match. Three players in the coaches’ votes with Gardiner, Hurley and McCarthy all recognised

Paris McCarthy also nominated for the Goal of the Year award for that clever snap and goal over her head. She had never kicked an AFLW goal till this match — when she kicked three! Hope she keeps it up

Odd votes. Two players must have got five votes from one coach and none from the other.
