Rnd 10 - Swans Demolish Tigers

Are we seeing an emergence from the ugly ducklings to beautiful Swans? For the second consecutive week, the Swans came out of the blocks firing, destroying a very disappointing Tigers side kicking and 13 goals to one in the first half.

In fact, the Tigers had only kicked two points for the first quarter, and couldn?t score their first goal at the 20 minute mark of the second quarter through young gun Trent Cotchin. By this stage, the Swans had kicked 11 goals and were in the lead by 69 points.

The two moments that defined the first half both happened in the first quarter. Adam Goodes sharks the tap from the ensuing centre bounce, striding away and kicking the footy to Michael O?Loughlin who kicked the goal. From the next bounce, Goodesy gets it again in an almost carbon copy clearance running to 60 metres out and slotting the goal.

The other moment was a mark to Richo after the best piece of play Richmond had done so far that day. Barely 30 metres out on a slight angle, Richo cannoned the football into the goal-post.

The second half had a much more competitive Tigers outfit but the Swans increased their lead at every change for the rest of the game to run out 82 point winners.

The most impressive aspect of the match though, is that despite kicking 21 goals, there was no real standout goal-kicker. The Swans highest goal-scorers were Amon Buchanan, Jarrad McVeigh and Michael O?loughlin with three each, and had 12 individual goal-kickers. If the forward line can continue to spread the goals.

Also, we have ticked over the 100 points per game average for the season. 2008 has definitely seen the shackles thrown off some of the boys and we are finally seeing some of the quality play our boys can produce.
