You've been down on him of late BBB, how did you see his game (from what you saw)?

He was OK, but so he should be in that company. Unfortunately he still works harder when we have the ball (looking for handballs etc.) then when they have it, but he was played in a role he is VERY unlikely to ever be asked to play in the seniors.

Only 1 goal, but his field kicking is certainly sublime.

The big thing out of the 2's...........White hurt an ankle in the second quarter. On crutches down to the rooms at halftime and not seen again.

Fosdike and Schmidt looked rusty, the latter looking a bit like Stewie Dew.

Veszpremi, O'Keefe and Murphy didn't play and Smith was rested for the second half, presumably as the designated fresh reserve in case.

I thought Davis was good this morning. Not outstanding but clearly a class above most others. Though as BBB says, so he should. Don't agree with the comment that he looked disinterested. He seemed to spend almost the entire game on the ground, and though as BBB also said he played across half-back for most of the game, he was regularly running the length of the ground. His kicking around the ground was very good, he showed he can break away from congestion, and he looked to be trying hard to bring some of the top-ups into the game.

Was very disappointed that neither of my two new favourites was playing. Kinda wished I'd had an extra hour or two in bed. But the standard of the game was pretty reasonable and the top-ups, as a group, played very well given how outsized they were and how many of them there were. Quite a few couldn't kick to save their lives but their ball winning ability and tackling was very impressive. Number 44 (Sneddon) rucked for most of the game against a bloke who probably weighs twice as much as him. He probably didn't get many taps away but certainly provided a contest. And kicked a goal too.

The other two who stood out to be were number 45 (who looked like Simon Phillips baby brother) and 54, wearing a blue-grey helmet. Both were pint sized but showed lots of courage and had decent skills.

Of the Swans, I thought Schmidt was very good in the first half but looked tired and ragged in the second half. Fosdike, like Davis, showed his class in terms of making space when he found possession but seemed to drift in and out of the game a bit. Brennan was solid at both ends of the ground, though the kicking's the same as ever.

O'Dwyer played a very good game in terms of reading the flight of the ball and attacking it, leading to some excellent intercept marks. His kicking was a bit of a mixed bag though - a shame because up to now it seemed to be an aspect he'd improved in significantly since last season. Bruce is a workhorse and spent all game running up and down the ground. He's not very polished yet but there's a bit to like about him.

Brabazon, Smith and White (while the latter were on the ground) were all relatively anonymous, I thought - though Braba kicked two nice goals. Faullks I thought was mediocre too - surprised to see him listed in the best. Beckmans butchered more goal scoring opportunties than he converted, and I thought played quite selfishly in the forward line too. Too many times he tried to do the impossible rather than set up a team mate.

Overall though , a pretty decent result against Queanbeyan. I wonder if the standard of top-ups they have access to in Sydney is significantly better than those available in Canberra. Might explain why the team has managed to beat two of the strongest in the league in Sydney yet lost to two of the lesser teams in Canberra.

Posted my comments above before I read BMR's (originally in different thread) and sounds like I owe Faulks (especially) an apology. I didn't notice him do much, but I guess that is often the sign of a good game by a defender. And knowing the quality of his opponent helps to assess how he's gone. Have to confess I spent most of the first quarter sulking, after arriving 10 minutes late and taking another 5 to realise neither Murphy nor Vezspremi were playing.

Equally evident was Davis? lack of work ethic; once he had been beaten in a contest, there were several occasions when Nick simply stopped and watched others fight for the contested ball.

Reminds me of when Saddo had to play in the twos.

Mark Powell did some nice things late, but if he was the Tigers' best, I'll give up. I don't think he did much at all in the first two and a half to three quarters, and Andrew Lieschke (No.18) has every right to be dirty he wasn't named first, while the ruckman Scott Dickinson (23) was also impressive and the Queanbeyan backline of Neil Irwin (8) and Roy Jaques (13) got plenty of it as well.
I also noticed Andrew Carey (16) in the best. He is from Myrtleford in the O and M and I've seen him play plenty of footy - not many games worse than he had today.
Queanbeyan did well to run the Swans to 22 points with two of their biggest names in Powell and Carey doing virtually nothing IMO.

No.45 was a kid by the name of Mitch Rawson who I know nothing about, but you are right, he did have his moments.
