    Goodes in All-stars' Best

The Dockers' boom recruit, Des Headland, headlined Carlton's thrashing at the hands of the ATSIC All-Stars on Saturday night.

But Sydney's Adam Goodes also received plenty of plaudits for a strong performance in the ruck for the Aboriginal team. He was ranked among the best-on-ground for the All-stars by all reports.

The Melbourne Age described the best performances:

"The All-Stars had winners all over the field, with Fremantle's Des Headland particularly impressive. Leon Davis, Andrew Krakouer, Mark Williams and Darryl White were dangerous in attack, while Adam Goodes gave away height in the ruck to Carlton recruit Barnaby French but little else."

    The AFL's footy site said:

"Leon Davis, Andrew Krakouer and Daryl White created havoc up forward leaving their struggling Carlton opponents standing, while Chance Bateman and Chris Johnson starved the Blues forwards by mopping up superbly in defence.

The Blues were expected to have a height advantage over the All Stars, but Adam Goodes and White competed admirably in the big man duels and gave their fleet-footed and skilful team-mates a chance to display their wares."

    And Sportal summed it up:

"Fremantle?s Des Headland and Troy Cook dominated for the All-Stars, along with Leon Davis, Darryl White and Adam Goodes, while Richmond goalsneak Andrew Krakouer led the way up forward with three goals."
