    Fast and durable

AAP reports that the AFL's fastest man Jared Crouch will set a club record for the most consecutive appearances - his 109th straight game when he turns out for Sydney in its season opener against Carlton at Telstra Stadium on Saturday. Crouch, who won the AFL sprint title on grand final day 2002, has never missed a game since making his senior debut in the 1998 season.

"It means a fair bit to me, because I definitely pride myself on my ability to get up each week and the way I look after my body," Crouch said. "It's been a long time coming, having to spend the whole pre-season looking forward to it."

Although primarily regarded as a tagger, Crouch said he hoped he would also get the opportunity to display his blistering pace in a more "freewheeling" midfielder role.

Other Swans' milestones this weekend feature captain Stuart Maxfield, who clocks up 150 games for Sydney, and Brett Kirk, who plays his 50th game.
