How many in our side do that?
I agree with most of your comments about Yze accept for the above. We are playing in a GF and Melbourne aren't despite most people thinking that their midfielders are better than ours.

One of their problems is that when the pressure is on, their gun players are found wanting. Yze has been more guilty of this than just about anyone else. He's awesome in the first half of the year and then disappears when the pressure is on. Injuries are definitely a part of this of course.

Having said that, I'd like to have him but he'd be too expensive relative to what he would provide. As a midfielder there is a chance that he is past his best - playing all of those consecutive games may have taken it's toll. As a forward, we don't really need him.

If we could get him cheap that would be great but can't see it happening. To give up perhaps a first round pick and a player and then have him keep Malceski and/or Willoughby in the reserves perhaps would not be a great idea.

I agree that he will probably be too expensive, and in any event I think he will stay with Melbourne or else go to one of the big Melbourne-based clubs.

Melbourne itself has a habit of going missing in pressure situations. I sometimes think that in the right environment some of those players may stand up better in that sort of pressure. This may be the case in a Swans team.

He kicked a lot of goals (27 to round 12 or something) in the first half of the year when Melbourne were flying. There wasn't even room in the midfield for him at that stage. So in answer to your question, we have several - medium sized forwards that is. There's no doubt that he did well in that role. At the same time, I can't see that that role is worth what he will cost us.

Agreed. Look what we've done with Darren Jolly a Clark Keating in the making with even more mobility.
Our team environment is superb atm and if i was looking to ressurect my career i know i where i would want to go.

I agree. I think that someone like Johnstone would be a great pickup for us. Very good player but with less pressure up here and our team environment he'd become a champion.

              YZE...

              From The Australian:

"The Demons yesterday moved closer to re-signing Adem Yze for another two years after improving their offer for the 28-year-old."

Would love to see Johnson playing with us. That guy could turn out to be a champ. The important thing is first he himself got to realize it first. I would not want him otherwise. If he cant realize that moving to Sydney would be real good for his career, he is either too dumb to see that or too weak to accept the change. In either of those cases, there is no good reason to go out and get him.
