As good as his game was, I don't think that was quite so intentionally and well executed as you might suggest!!Originally posted by dimelb
The detail I particularly like is the arm of LRT as he takes out two Eagles to leave the ball to Leo without the umps noticing. SOS has taught him well and LRT has been an apt pupil.

Loved Steve Quartermain's call - "Leo Barry you star!"
I have literally watched that mark over 20 times, slow mo and normal speed.
Love it!
He reminds me of Rambo when he stands up, carnage all around him and having saved the day!

You may be right - I was struck by the way he doesn't even seem to look at the ball, just goes straight in like a lock driving into a ruck.Originally posted by NMWBloods

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Although I note in an article on the Swans site he was taking credit for the shepherd. I'm guessing that was tongue in cheek.
He is pretty good at breaking the pack though.

It was a very unorthodox way to take a mark. He came running in from the right of screen so his momentum was taking him to the left of screen. However when you look at the pictures he is leaning to his left (ie. right of screen) so he has had to stretch against his momentum to take that mark. Brilliant.Comment

According to Richard Hinds in an article in the Herald today, Gardiner was near Fosdike. Leo was by himself because he had just kicked the ball after getting it from the kickin (should have kicked it too Goodes as well who was free).Originally posted by punter257
brilliant brilliant brilliant
just a question - who was leo's opponent at the time and where was he? pretty sure that gardy was on the bench and leo just came outta nowhere all by himselfComment

Of course it was intentional. Just like Ablett's kick to Cousins to make the game more exciting. It was all planned!Originally posted by NMWBloods
