Emergency:
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler
You'd have to think that Powell and Davis are certainties from that interchange bench (wouldn't be fair to drop Powell after just one game). Would also be surprised if Meiklejohn didn't get another go, though might depend on team balance.
So whether LRT actually plays must depend - at least partly - on whether Warfe gets one more week...
I'm a bit sick of the chicanery surrounding team naming. Do they really get anything out of the foxing (apart from irritating the die-hard fans who hang out for Thursday night?)
I mean Mathews in the back pocket (after last weeks effort when he delivered spanking passes and hand balls for the first time in a couple of seasons) Bolton in the forward line...as if
O'keefe is on the injured list etc.....
Anyway. Warfe must be out, surely. Either LRT or Stevens is the replacement tall back.
Maybe Stevens so that he can go forward when Goodes is in the ruck and an extra true tall (Meiklejohn) is needed down back and Ball is having rest.
Davis on the bench again. Hopefully he is getting pissed off and is ready to show waht he is made of. Would love his skills in the middle but he's not exactly world class at getting the thing in the first place, is he?

Definitely agree with Liz that Davis and Powell would be certainties. In the name of balance, I might almost be tempted to have Meiklejohn and Warfe - Meiklejohn not having done anything wrong, and Warfe just because he's a tough defender - completely unlike anyone else left on the extended bench. Otherwise you might end up with too many talls on the bench (if such a thing were possible)... LRT definitely knocking on the door though.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out.... Des' Weblog

Have to agree with this opinion and I think we have to go with Warfe this time - the guy is a favourite of mine and all he needs is to get his confidence back.
why do some people worry about positions, after 10 mins they will be all over the field and for sunday games there is a training session on friday so emergencies don't have to be named until sunday.i agree on davis, miekeljohn and powell, but as warfe had so little ground time last week he may go back to twos for a full game.
It's rather odd to see O'Keefe named when The Age said on Thursday that he wouldn't even be considered because of an ankle injury. Warfe only played 12 minutes in the last game, so there seems little point hanging onto him for this one.
Originally posted by robbieando LRT is more likely to play than Stevens because of the fact LRT is able to play both end better.
I always assumed LRT was a key defender. Has he been up forward in the 2s?
Stevens, as a few people have mentioned, looked very comfortable accross half back against Brisbane last time. I felt he really made a difference in that game. We had hit trouble and that move gave us back some equilibrium.
reminded me of the way the Roos would send Carey back when things were going wrong. He seemed to go down back, win the ball a couple of times, then send it forward...to himself.
Stevens is not there, yet but I can dream

I think LRT could be brought in for this one. There is an article on him on the main site.
He may even be brought in for Meiklejohn, has LRT is a similar height, can also ruck and can be sent down back.
Official AFL Website of the Sydney Swans Football Club
Sydney has included Lewis Roberts-Thomson in its 25-man squad for the clash against the Brisbane Lions at the SCG on Sunday. The 19-year-old, who was recruited from the NSW/ACT Rams, is in line to play his first game for the Swans, after being named on the seven-man bench.
Originally from North Shore via the NSW/ACT Rams, Roberts-Thomson was recruited to the Swans under the developing markets rule and was claimed at No.29 in the 2001 National AFL Draft.
After an outstanding junior career, Roberts-Thomson was restricted by knee problems in his first year on Sydney?s list, but is an exciting prospect for the Swans.
Also coming into the 25-man squad are Ryan O?Keefe and Scott Stevens, who have been named on the bench, along with Nick Davis, James Meiklejohn, Mark Powell and Rowan Warfe.
The Swans have yet to make any omissions from last week?s line-up, but will be looking to notch up their first win against the Lions since round 17, 1998.
Has anyone seen LRT ruck at training against Bally or Goodesy? I mean can he ruck against the big boys yet?
Speaking of which, is Beau McDonald definitely out? He seems to have been named, I wonder how likely he is? Charman will be their number one ruckman it seems, he's not famous but he seems to get the job done. All he has to do is break even and the superstars under him do the rest.
Lynch and Bradshaw are going to be the toughest matchups, given our lack of height. All we need is an adequate tall (Schauble) on Bradshaw but for Lynchy...any ideas? Saddo? I can imagine Saddo would do an ok job man on man if he plays in front and maybe Leo can rotate with Goodesy to play that flying role to help out. AG did that on Sat night when Tarrant marks looked likely, a nice punch from AG saved the day.
