    Andrew Schauble retires

    According to this HS article

Well done to Schaubs on a wonderful career with the Swans, including the 2000 B&F where he was pulling marks down from left right and centre. A lot of talk during this week was centred on how sad it was Maxfield and Nicks couldn't play, I think it was just as sad that Schaubs couldn't join in today either. A terrific player and a great role model for younger players at the club

I don't blame him, he is a wonderful football player and I don't feel that the club has treated him with respect this season. I am sure he will make a fantastic teacher.
        Thank you Schaubs!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Could be that he made it known a while back and the club decided that it would be better to develop some kids. Ball situation being slightly different beacuse we NEEDED Ball to win.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

                Very surprised--he's not that old.
I would've though he'd have a chance to re-establish his career in the pre-season games next year.
I assume he must have permanent injuries.

BTW does this count as a "Surprise Retirement"?

Have I found a legitimate source, or just another tosser?

                  Congratulations Schaubs. A great CHB.

In the rooms I asked Schaubs if he'd play next year, but he said no.
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

I think Schaudes as serviceable as he was didn't fit the attacking style of our backs, simply because of his lack of pace.

Hey is still young enough to keep going but maybe he felt that the game had passed him by. Gutsy effort I say to realise the time has come and there is no point trying to resurrect his career elsewhere.

I suspect he has a future in the community welfare area arena judging by his community work.

                          Andrew,

You have been a wonderful servant for the Swans. Well done mate.

I've always had more respect for schaubs as a person than any other player and I will miss him terribly. I hope he stays at the club in some form but doubt he will. All the best for the future Andrew!

Congrats on a great career Schaubs - a fantastic player and clubman and an absolute legend off the field.

When Roosy announced he had retired at Punt RD, they got him up and he started off with something in gibberish German, but it was quite amusing.

Was in good spirits this morning at Albert Park.

                              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
