Saddington and Spriggs What Lies Ahead

So what does 2006 hold in store for these 2 players I think it would be fair to say that injuries have prevented Jason from performing at his best in the past 2 years, the question is do we perservere or maybe arrange a trade if one can be found.

As for Spriggs well a very dissappointing season hard to see him surviving the cut especially with 2 or 3 quality young midfielders ready to step up.

I believe he has another year on his contract.

I think we should keep Saddington on the list with the loss of experience from our retiring players. But, if we can somehow use him to get Bradley or Polak, someone to fill a key position I would trade him.

No idea about Spriggs.

Saddo will be traded if he wants to be. He has another one or two years on his contract, so will be at the club next year if it is what he wants.

Spriggs is also contracted for next year, and will continue to kick the dew off the grass at Manuka Oval.

That may be enough to save him I guess he can only improve.

Hope Saddo goes. Very ordinary footballer. There's a perception around that he can play, so maybe we could get something reasonable for him?

i think its time for saddo to move on and the best chance of this is being reunited with rocket eade

the dogs have some good young kids with PACE that would be handy for us

as for spriggs, who knows whats going on with him, i cant see him playing much senior footy next yr

I agree Jason can play however whether injuries will curtail his effectiveness is the question.

The fact that he used to get towelled up by the opposition every week. Serviceable on a wing of HF flank but that is all.

Couldn't agree more that Saddo for one-of-the-15-seemingly-identical-mobile-Dogs-players-who-can-take-a-mark would be a mutually beneficial trade. Like so many of the Swans players, he's got a lot of experience but also a lot of years left in the tank. No question at all that he can play; he is just a player who's very up and down depending on his confidence level. It's time for the Swans to talk with Rocket one more time...

I can't help but think that us winning the flag improves our bargaining position in trades. 'He played in the premiership team in 2005 (but was unable to break back into the 22 regularly after injuries)', sounds a lot better than, 'He couldn't even hold down a regular spot in the side that finished 5th'.

I think you'll find that Saddo was shopped as a trade last year along with a few others (Fosdike I'm pretty sure was one, amazing to think that he was arguably the Swans best in the GF).

Be surprised if he wasn't up again this year. All depends if a suitable trade can be agreed upon. I'd say 9/10 shopped players end up going nowhere.

We get a promising outside receiver who has polish.

Fosdike actually asked to be traded so he could go home but the Crows baulked at his salary and so that deal fell through. Will be interesting to see if he asks to be traded again or if he's now happy to stay with the Premiers.
