And it wasn't just the fans that were concerned.
If you recall the players also displayed their anxiety by very publicly endorsing Roos at the end of the game Even Kell and Dunks thought doing that was more important than their own retirement.
IMHO that was a watershed period in the development of the club as a club. I believe both the board and the members changed their perception of the club, themselves and each other during that period.Comment

Interesting to hear Colless' views on that just recently. He is adamant that the Board was already leaning toward Roos and Wallace was simply a late entrant. They decided to go with Roos already without needing to be convinced by the three men and a dog, but he said it was an important time for the club because it showed the passion of the supporters for the club, which was not as evident in the past.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Of course they can - just interesting the change in volume...Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Richard Colless
There is someone else who deserves a lot of credit for the Swans eventual success I was a member back in 1992 and 93 and had it not been for the stirling efforts of Peter Weinert the club may well have folded, he poured millions into the club and by all reports his empassioned speech to the AFL directors meeting discussing whether the club should be wound up was inspirational.

I may be about to make myself the most unpopular contributor on here but anyway . . .
Without wanting to detract from the players and Roos - not to mention other football dept staff - there's one bloke who deserves a big pat on the back (and sorry if someone slipped in another mention elsewhere).
Because whatever whinges the small-minded types on here have about him, he came to the club when it was a basketcase and stuck with it through the good, the bad and the ugly.
So take a bow Richard Colless. Here's hoping he enjoyed it
Although, also look up the name Peter Weinart for keeping the Swans as an AFL entity back in 93 or 94 if I stand corrected. The man, from all reports, gave a stirring speech in front of AFL administrators and presidents that virtually saved the club from extinction - with the only p***k voting against the Swans being in the AFL competition being one John ElliottWell somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential
Somebody told me, The Killers, Hot Fuss, 2004.Comment

Not unpopular at all and well directed thanks to a great administrator who stuck at it and contributed a lot to the Swans success.Leo Barry, You Star!Comment

I propose that this forum give three cheers for Richard Colless and Peter Weinhart:

Good Perth boy (like the CEO) - to be commended for their perseverance as well as their grace in handling victory and acknowledging those who had contributed to it.
Tried to put the hard word on Colless to come good with tickets in GF week & to his credit he actually did try - I assume I was one of about 5000 people trying him on (including many West Coast fans!).Comment
