yeah all great memories from 2003

what about nicky d's soccer off the ground against the blues at optus oval - sailed through like a drop punt. IIRC that sealed the game as well, the blues were coming at us hard and i'm pretty sure LRT was in the ruck contest

I am obviously not complaining about winning a premiership, but we played bloody attractive footy that year. Amazing to see how fast and pinpoint our rebound was and how much our style has changed.

I watched that game as well last night, and in particular it got me thinking about Doyle. I was going to start a thread for this, but what do you think of him. Could this be a year were he is finally injury free, and if so, judging from the first quarter against carlton, will be a great player to have.
Over this season, i have been saying they should get rid of him, but after watching that game last night, i thought he should be given a chance, as he has some talent. And if, by some miracle, he manages to be injury free, he could be a revelation for the swans next year.

That Swans team would have lost by 50 points to the Cats in the 2005 semifinal. When teams manned up against us, we didn't have a clue what to do - ie the Pies game in R21 (when Holland took out Willo).

No arguments, was not saying we were a better side, just that we played very flashy exciting footy.

yeah that was partly why i started this thread.. watching the game, for a big bloke hes actually pretty willing to throw himself around and make an effort. the first quarter does show what hes capable of, but ironically, he injured his knee that game as well. sort of sums up his career - hes willing, but not able, id say 2006 is his last chance hes had all this season off, he can rest pre-season.. any with any luck get a few games. otherwise he'll end up on the scrap heap with rest of those who "had potential"

I'm really glad you made that point! It's obvious to us Swans fans, but when we were being criticised left right and centre for playing ugly football earlier this year and going back to last year, people conveniently forget why the games were 'ugly' - other teams were shutting US down because of that attacking style of 2003. So we had to add another dimension to our game in order to respond to this. Sure, it meant some low-scoring games in 2004-05, but we have also managed to play some attacking football this year that wouldn't have been possible for the 2003 team for the reason you've said. I'm sure the game plan will keep evolving in 2006.

camel 56, i've posted here only a short while, however in that time i've encountered a great deal of unprovoked hostility. i've been a swans fan since birth, following the bloody angels from south melb. days & have compiled a no. of lists which i've shared on this board & allow all members 2 use provided my approval is sought. my advise is 2 ride it out. i'm sure when the excitement of the recent flag win dies down, traffic 2 this board will reduce & with the balance between diehard & temp ?fans? restored ur posts will b meet by fewer negative responses

You obviously don't understand the meaning of "unprovoked". (btw you=u in case you can only talk text-speak.)

aceman - Im sorry to hear that. Its a sad state of affairs when a long time swans supporter such as yourself gets nothing but abuse from bandwagon riders. I will take your suggestion and try to ride out the storm of plod that Ive been confronted with since joining the board.
                                Plod plod you go!
