C7, SEN and 3AW are all carrying it, I think.

Liz - O'Keefe is too much to pay I feel. We'd be giving away a Top 10 player who is only 24 for a 32 year old. Seems a little over the odds, although I agree it could well happen nonetheless.

If we could nab the Dogs' 2nd rounder for Saddo, we could offer Hawthorn three picks before 35. Whilst they want to keep Everitt, the possibility of having picks 3, 6, 19, 22, 27, 35 and 38 for a rebuilding club has to be tempting.

Surely they wouldn't give him up would they? Spider is not worth that much. O'Keefe is going to be a star. (If he isn't one already)

Welcome aboard, Spida, if all goes to plan.
I seriously hope that the Hawks would accept this but with the draft being relatively weak i have my doubts.

No sign of ROK re-signing as well which means the Swans might be using ROK as a last resort trade. I don't want to lose ROK, especially not for Spida.

The Hawks have a relatively strong hand in negotiations because

              a) the Swans are clearly very very keen
              b) the fact they have offered him a three contract can be used to argue his value up a little
              c) the Hawks have an easy fall back position - keep him. It's not a Davis situation where he can walk if he doesn't get traded. He's under contract.

I fear for the future of O'Keefe in the R&W if the Swans really do want Spider. Would make me very sad to see Pebbles go.
We always have the option to opt out if we dont think the deal is fair. What option exactly the Hawks now have? Asking Everitt to fulfil his contract which runs for another year I and then getting nothing else for him. He would probably retire by then.

What exactly one year of Everitt's worth to the Hawks? Not a flag obviously? Not better draft pick obviously?

Cant see the benefit to them if he is staying now.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but my head says the Hawks will want a player, and a decent one at that. They are in danger of becoming a kindergarten and too many kids all at the same time could be detrimental.

The dilemma that the Swans would face is that sending any of the premiership players to Hawthorn would be cruel cruel cruel as you'd been sending them to play in a losing team for the next couple of years minimum. Roos says he loves these guys. Could he do that to one of them?

If Spider wants out, you'd reckon the Hawks would want to accomodate him. I say this because surely they wouldn't want a player at their club whose heart isn't in playing for Hawthorn any longer.

hopefully saddo and/or powell and/or pick 19 can go through before the deadline. hawks may be desperate to get something near the end of the week

i'd be pissed off if we gave up ROK for the spida, it would be a massive win for the hawks

O'Keefe is too much, not because he's that fantastic, but simply because he has so many years left in him.

It may be worth it though if we swapped O'Keefe + Saddington for Everitt and a decent youngster.

Isn't Spida still contracted till 2006 meaning that if we can't strike a deal by the end of the week he will remain a Hawk?

Correct. They still hold the trump card.

Putting aside the fact that O'Keefe is one of my favourites, that might make more sense. Unless the player is Ries (who Hawks fans have been suggesting they offload onto us).

Would be happy with Franklin or Roughhead.
