He's not all that tall (can he leap?), he's a year younger than Doyle and played less games (odd given the injury prone Cats ruckmen).
As a direct replacement for BigJason he leaves me cold.
As a long term prospect I can't say he excites me (I hope he doesn't retard Earl's development ).
Is #35 expensive for an insurance policy?
I can't remember seeing him play but I guess we'll know more about him in 6 months or so.
Paul chambers from Geelong is our replacement for Bally. Comes for a second round draft pick. He's not the worst ruckman going around. Couldn't get a game behind King and Ottens and Blake.
We have a great recent record with Cat cast-offs. I have a good feeling about this. Chambers hits Spriggs in the goal square to win a final in extra time, the crowd goes wild!

Originally posted by Sanecow Allegedly he played v Sydney: Round 8, 2003; Round 3, 2004; Round 16; 2004; Round 15 2005. Don't remember him.
Chambers has been only used as a bit ruckmen by the Cats though he looked a bit better than Blake who's way off it atm. Some thought he should have been picked in the final to take the pressure off King who's been injury-prone. I think the priority now is to get another young player or draft picks for Saddington. Can't see Powell attracting much interest. But surely there has to be some new talent drafted otherwise the teams with all the early picks will move right ahead. Some have been reallys stocking up on selections. St.Kilda's policy didn't bear fruit this year but what if they had have had a good run with injuries?
Not sure that I am overly happy woth Chambers by the sounds of things - surely we could have got something a bit better, surely a dual premiership ruckman from the lions would be able to give us a few good years...............and I thought pick 35 (although probably worthless) could have been used a bit better
Anyways I am sure the swans hierarchy know what they are doing.........lets hope we get ted richards
Coaching staff must have lost confidence in both Doyle's fitness and form.
Ball will remain at the SCG as a ruck coach, I am sure of it. Can he help mould Sydney's back-up ruckman? Maybe?
Jolly
Doyle
Shaw
Erikson
Chambers
To be honest with you, I think the competitive spirit between Doyle and Jolly at the start of the season lifted Darren, remember he was nearly BOG against the Hawks.
I might be reading too much into this, but a quality competitive environment might see everyone step up. Stranger things have happened at this club.

How come this news doesn't really fill me with renewed confidence? But hey, he may turn out to be a gun under Roosie's guidance...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

What if their half decent players had committed themselves a bit more...

Our ruck division will be Jolly, Doyle and Chambers.
Not quite Keating, McDonald, Charman...
But remember Doyle was very good in late 2004. If he's 100% he will be a more than adequate replacement for Ball.

I believe you can mark em up and sell em on as long as its done before the deadline.
