    Who will it be?

Clip out of an article I just read on news.com.au

"There would probably be a new player in next week"

    Who this time?

Lewis Roberts-Thompson would have to be my bet.

It will be hard to alter this giant killing team at the moment, but if for some reason there has to be a change I would look forward to seeing him play as there has been alot of talk about him.

LRT SHOULD COME IN FIRST, COS THE MORE FIRST GAMERS WE CAN BLOOD THIS YEAR, THE MORE COMPETITION FOR PLACES NEXT YEAR, WHEN WE WILL HAVE A MUCH BETTER SHOT AT THE ULTIMATE TITLE !!!!!!!!!

As LRT was named as emergency last week I sould think he is the most likely. Also, Roos would not have referred to Fixter as a "new player".

Well, Meiklejohn has done nothing wrong, but maybe it's part of the youth rotation policy. Give him a taste of it, then give someone else a go while he has a couple of full games in the 2s with (hopefully) some new-found confidence

Warfe has done nothing wrong either, but IMHO a full game or two in the reserves will do him the world of good - fit and in form he is a very decent player.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

but the question begs, who are they gonna drop?

they cant drop barry or mathews with the way that theyre playing and the rookies shouldnt be dropped... i think fosdike would be the only one with any serious problems holding a spot and he has been playing some pretty good footy... warfe, meiklejohn, powell and fosdike are the guys under the pump IMO and i think three of them still deserve a spot!!! which leaves warfe to be dropped and there is only one position in the squad that is in contention... once LRT comes in hypothetically for warfe, the team is pretty well locked up unless injury hits (touch wood)

for the marginal positions it often depends on the match-ups needed for the particular game. Do they need more talls or more running players, that sort of thing.

Regarding to Meiklejohn, yes he did no thing wrong but he did not contribute that much to the team. Playing him in the current role in order to give him a taste of senior footy is fine. But three games is enough for that objective. We have to find another objective to justify his spot. One possible objective is to take a more significant role in the ruck, which I dont think he is ready yet. Another is to offer us another option in the forward line (Roos did try to play him there). I doubt he could do that reasonably at the moment. The other (main) objective is to further his development. The question then is whether playing him in the current role for few more weeks would enhance his development. I dont think so. Having a full game in the 2's might be better for him. Replacing him with LRT makes sense this way. The objective for LRT would be "giving him a taste", which is well-justified. Rotating LRT and Meiklejohn until Doyle's due back (about another 6-8 games) would be about perfect for all, I think.

Similar case for Powell, I think Roos should give Powell another two to three games and then get Sundquist (or others) to take over the "nurturing spot". As long as Roos makes clear that there is a "nurturing spot" open , we should see some good competition between our youngsters.

                    Keep the youth rotation going.

the only changes likely are to send warfe and m'john back to play full games in reserves,a normal practice, because sitting on the bench does not help your form.
it seems that lrt is ready for a callup, possibly o'keefe also.don't think fixter is fit enough yet.

js, true true, and all of a sudden we have depth!

i think fixter would be perfect for ablett however

                          sadders - mooney
                          schauble - kingsley

id say scarlett will take magic which would leave hall to run all over graeme!!!

                            Why tamper with the side?

We have just beaten the premiers, I don't see any reason in changing the team.

The only players I would bring in are Fixter and O'Keefe, if they are ready.

On last week, you couldn't possibly drop anyone on their performances?

Surely Nicks will be favourite to come back into the side? And I'd really like to get a look at Daniel Hunt.

So maybe Nicks and Hunt for Warfe and Powell . . . . I'd like to see that!
