    Wow Seven gone

The kind of cleanout you have when you finish 15th and 2 on.

We must use at least two picks in the national draft - any chance we will promote 3 rookies.

I have a feeling our guys are still going to do something from left field

IIRC you must delist 3 players - but you must use all picks that you have traded for (2).

I haven't checked the rules recently

I have bit of gut feeling we are going hunting for more Vogels - which is good IMHO

            From AFL record 2005

"...and each club, providing it is eligible, shall participate, and must have at least three selections."

In any case we traded for 3 so we will be using 3.

I'm still hopeful that Fixter will keep his spot. Or they might delist and re-draft him. Worth a punt, even if Heath James couldn't make it after a similarly horrendous injury run. Always hoped for a fairytale ending for at least one of our injury-prone trio in Doyle, Fixter and James.

The danger of delisiting and redrafting a player is that there is a chance they could be picked up by another club. With such low picks I doubt this is a strategy to be pursued this year. Anyway I don't think we need to delist anyone to make room.

Can't see Fixter being retained, for the simple reason that he won't get a game. Aside from all the regular midfielders/small defenders, McVeigh, Willoughby, Moore, Schmidt, Malceski, Bevan and even Spriggs are all ahead of him.

Hopefully he ends up at another club. I really liked what we saw of Fixy in 2002.

I was worried that the title of this thread meant that Channel 7 had withdrawn from bidding for the rights to the footy-- now that would be a disaster!

No serious risk that if we dump Fixter he'll be picked up before pick 61. Except in very very rare (and usually well-publicised) cases, players who are being dumped from a team's list are not on the radar of other team's recruiters-- they're obsessed with 17 and 18 year olds at this time of year.

However, based on what he's shown in those incredibly rare 2-hour blocks when he's been fit, I don't agree that any of Willoughby, Schmidt or Spriggs would be ahead of him in getting a guernsey at this point, and he'd be about level with Moore and Malceski. At the age of 24, he ain't ultra-young, but he's still a year short of the Heath James cut-off.

I think that both Eade and Roos have like what they've seen of him, for good reason-- it's just a question of whether he we can remove the perennial entry:
Ben Fixter-- some pissy problem, usually leg-related-- 2-3 weeks
                    from the injury list.

Can O'Loughlin go on the veterans list. He's been with us 10 years and played over 150 games.

Has to be thirty years of age too. No Sydney player is eligible for the vet list this year.

Think you have to be 30 as well...

Its only a disaster if 7 actually get the rights again. I couldn't stand any more "speeeecial" moments from that dork McAvaney.

Yes but no more Dwayne Russell

We need 30-32 AFL standard players next year - I don't tink we can really afford to let any more go unless they recruit any more ready to go players.

Maybe the Salary Cap has had an impact here.

Is this going to be the youngest list we have ever had? 1 player over 30, only three in their late 20s?

I count only 25 with AFL 'experience', so we are going to put some pretty inexperienced sides on the paddock next year
