So let me get this right.

We lost 7 players, 1 which was on the vet's list and does not count in the spots so that is 6.

We gained 2, which leaves 4 spots and we must draft 3.

So with Vogels joning the full list that means we are full with the 3 draft picks.

As we have opted out of the early draft and have 3 picks all 50+ I can't see the club delisting anymore players.

It looks like they have decided to keep Fixter & Sunquist on the list for another year to see if they can get themselves on the field to make sure they do not lose too much experience with the 7 retirements and trades.

Grundy and Shaw are both big chances for promotion. We won't know for sure about delistings until November 18th - it's an absurdly long time for players to have to wait anxiously.

Fixter and Sundqvist are both possibilities to be picked up by the club in the draft, although I think the odds are against it. But I am expecting them to be delisted.

If (and it's pure speculation) the Swans took Podsiadly, he would be a back up player only. Schmidt is my prediction to be the first new senior Swan next season. The lad can play, no doubt about it.

Fair enough - and I can only go on reports I see here... but the weight of opinion seems to be that Malceski, Moore and Willoughby are all brighter prospects than Schmidt.

I don't really mind who it is - if we turn three of those four (plus McVeigh) into regular senior players, we will be looking very, very good.

Of course. It would only be team structure that would put Pods ahead of Schmidt - we have a lot of smalls, but still a relative lack of talls.

I miss Bruce. I know a person that has worked with him and said that he is very genuine and a really nice person on and off camera.

LOL. Not sure about that.

As far as the untried players go, the one that I would most like to see make it in a big way is actually Matthew Davis. There's something about him that makes me think that if he can get strong enough he could be a very exciting player to watch (in the Kennelly mould).

Schmidt, however, is the one that I'd put money on to become a decent AFL player, lack of injury permitting.

As has been mentioned on here a few times he's not real quick, and does not seem to get a lot of it himself. His disposal is usually pretty good though. Can see him playing a Ben Matthews type role (hopefully with many less clangers) as a 'link' man, putting it on the chest of blokes 40-50m up the field.

Don't think he has much of a problem getting the ball at ACTAFL level (all we've got to go on at the moment). He would have been right up there in midfield possessions this year with McVeigh, Moore and Malceski.

He's not overly quick by foot but he doesn't look like a slow player either. In the midfield I reckon speed of brain is probably more important than footspeed - there are plenty of smart players who don't look slow because they use their football instincts to win themselves space and time.

Plenty of possessions but I think a lot of them are, to be uncharitable, 'soft' possessions - which I do not think is a bad thing. I am not questioning his courage etc, I have seen him put his head over when required, but I think his value will be as an "outside" type player, skirting the fringes, getting his hands on a Monty handpass, taking half a dozen steps and hitting Vogels in the bread basket on a strong lead, 30 out, right in front.

What's the big interest in Podsiadly? As for Tim Schmidt, I expect him and Willoughby to be senior players at sydney for many years to come. Grundy is a chance to be drafted as is Campbell. Where is the place for Podsiadly?
I hope they give Bennett, Jack or Addison a go.
