Fantastic for Amon, Nick and ROK.
Fingers crossed for no injuries. That would be shocking. I felt sick every time Crouch gestured toward that shoulder to the trainers!
Keep Nick busy and out of KFC for off season

Anyone selected in the All Australian is an automatic selection (though many choose to withdraw) regardless of their suitability for the IR game.

I think that has changed and is no longer true this year.

Good selection, got nothing to complain about there. This Garlic football is a very fast game, even more so then our wonderful game of Australian Rules Football. Young guns like Waite, Buchanan, Giansiracusa, Davey & Deledio ( just a name a few) have great speed so i reckon this is going to be a great international rules series.

Congrats to Davis, Buchanan & O'Keefe on thier selection
Forget about Hall, it's all about Bradshaw

AFL allowed them a new discretionary selection policy. Sheeds said they went for pace and skill by and large.

Croad, Gilbee, Grant, Harvey, Hodge, Johnson, McLeod, Robertson and Wells are the AFL stars in the team.

Not sure that Croad, Gilbee or Wells qualify as stars any more than our boys, unless star quality is judged by hype. (Personally I'd add Hodge to that 'dubious' list too - I've made my feelings on him known many times before).

Even the rest are 'B grade' stars, rather than the bona-fide best in the comp, McLeod aside.

We're playing right into the Irish hands by not picking a monster forward like Hall or Brown.

I tend to agree. It is a running game and the round ball makes it even more so. However, a couple of big boofy forwards can't hurt. Especially when a blue breaks out.

One of the great Cinderella stories of the game for Amon to be playing for his country just 2 years after being just another fringe youngster who didn't quite make the grade, headed to play out his career in the minor leagues.

For ROK and Davis to get a guernsey too is a great honour and just reinforces what an excellent attack we have (and what a foolish swap ROK for Everitt would have been-- not that I believe for a moment that Sydney was ever contemplating it).

Fundamentally a good side. There are (just) enough players of size there. It's a very different game, where the ability to run onto a loose ball is, over the course of a game, more important than being able to take a contested grab.

Having thought wrongly in the past, 'Our best team of Aussie Rules players must be able to do the trick', I don't see any problem with going to the opposite extreme and seeing how a team designed to play Gaelic football goes.

My major query in selection is actually with Fletcher. The stats indicate he had a better 2005 than I remember him having, but (presuming he's fit) Ben Rutten is the form FB of the comp. I'm presuming Leaping Leo ruled himself out while that cheekbone mends.
