Just remember, Cruiser, it's T-A-D-H-G. Like HG Wells or HG Nelson.

Thanks to Cow for coming up with that one...

Re the OP, I think Tadhg will sign a 2-year deal at the end of 2006 and then go back to Ireland when he's 27. Sounds about right IMO.

We could always run a book on it with all proceeds to RWO

However, after the work that the club has put into him, I feel that the Swans deserve to have him play at his peak for us. I'd be much more accepting if he were to leave at 27 or 28 than at 25.
Tadhg Kennelly owes nothing to anyone. He has played his part in breaking a 72 year drought. He has consistently said year in year out that he would go home. Sad ? Yes. Angry ? No.

Tadhg Kennelly doesn't owe Sydney anything. We took a punt on him, put in a bit of time and effort, and waited to see what happened. There was no great cost to the club in terms of money, trades or draft picks.

And now IMHO he has repaid that faith by becoming a 100-game premiership player. What a bloody great bargain.

There was another thread before where I basically said that I think he will sign one more deal at the end of 2006, to set him up for life.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I think (hope) common sense will prevail. He'll stay for at least another 3 years for a) lifestyle: sun vs cold and rain b) stay with his mates c) money. Surely he feels he owes something to the Swans, plus his Australian citizenship showed he has a strong attachment to the place.

Realistically he could go back when he's 32 and still win an All Ireland. As a professional he'd be a different class to the other players.

My biggest concern would be that he wants to win one with his brother... how old is Noel??

I'm not going to worry about it....Tadhg could have massive form slump, bad injury, get on the KFC in the off season, lose interest in footy and want to become a florist, get an offer from Freo that's too hard to refuse or have some other life moment that forces him to rethink his direction. Who knows?

I hope he continues to star and enjoys his footy for the remainder of his contract and I mostly hope he shows us a few more dance moves at 2006 premiership medallion presentation.

                          YAY!

Kennelly to be offered new contract
Aussie Rules club Sydney Swans have opened negotiations on a new contract for Tadhg Kennelly in a bid to extend the Kerryman?s time Down Under.
