I would say Campbell and Potter have been delisted but it just hasn't been made public.The final lists said who was upgraded but not all clubs said who they had delisted from the rookie list.Maybe someone could find out the official stance.

I presume there is some kind of loophole with the 31 October list, in that it only needs to include senior list players and doesn't need to touch rookie lists.

On a similar whinge to that made previously: the club's lists have to be lodged with the Australian Football League. That is, supposedly, the same organisation that owns and runs the afl.com.au website. But could they put up on the web site the lists that have been lodged with them? No way-- that would be like performing a public service, or something.

(Sure, you might be able to look at a disparate range of news stories, link through to the various clubs' websites and try to suss out, for each individual club, who is and isn't on their senior list... but why should the user have to go to this much hassle?)

Very sorry to see Ben and Sunny go, I liked them both but can't argue with the club's decision. Vogel?s elevation was a no brainer. Reg (Grundy) certainly showed the ability and footy smarts to deserve elevation, my query was fitness/dedication. I feel very good about him now because elevation means he got a passing grade in the ?no @@@@heads? examination. Earl Shaw?s tapwork really came on during the year, but the rest of his game needs a lot of work ? I thought they would give him another year and elevate him then. One thing about young Earl is that he comes from the Barry Hall school of anger management - I saw one game where he got upset with an opposition player and responded with a RL style backslam from a height of about six feet. The bloke was helped off.

I was interested to see that Ricky?s project player Matt Davis has survived the chop. From my POV he hasn?t done a lot in the last two years so I would suggest he?s a lucky boy.

Re the rookies, Nick Potter has had two years, so he will probably be gone. Same with Andrew Hayes, whilst only a rookie for one year, he played most of 2004 as well. Guy Campbell came as mature aged, so gone as well. The last two, Garubba and Clarke are definitely worth another year. So that will mean six rookie places available, whether they are all filled depends on the depth of the NSW talent pool.

Matt Davis was taken in the draft a year earlier than expected, so in that case can be ensured at least another year on the list to see where he is at. The reports I have read seem to suggest that only injuries so far have prevented him from progressing to the seniors.

He is 191 cm's which means that he could progress from a flanker to a KP forward prospect (a lot like Dempster) in the future, something we lack in the younger ranks.

Like others on this thread I am surprised that Ed Clarke didn't get another year on the rookie list. Would have allowed us to see if the new and improved Schneider/Davis diet plan could have had some effect.

Mmmm. I guess there is always the possibility that blokes will be re-rookied, I mean there's not much to lose by keeping your otions open with regards to who the best availble will be at Rookie time. It's not like any of our rookies are going to be snaffled by someone else.

Also it keeps them on their toes!

A bit dis for Potter if he is gone. Likes what I saw a lot.

Very tough to do so w/out an announcement; rather the news just filters out at the end of a long list published on the generic AFL website. I know that the lack of announcement re: Clarke, Hayes, Potter may well be good news for them. That said, I know that plenty of regular list players have been delisted and then drafted; but has anyone ever been cut from the rookie list and then redrafted (either to the rookie list again, or the main list)? I'm struggling to think of a precedent.

But after Guy Campbell uprooted his life at the start of 2005 to be paid peanuts in order to pursue his chance-- and even represented Sydney at the MCG on grand final day in the biggest event on Australia's sporting calendar!-- it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth to send him packing without a word.

it is a shame that campbell and potter have to be delisted to comply with the rules,i think they both had something to offer and would like to see them nominate for the draft,they might still be there when our turn comes,imho they would be better drafts than any kids left at that late stage

kasey green has gotten delisted by the eagles, hasnt played a lot but I thought he did well on the grand stage.

should throw him on the rookie list for a year and see what happens.

We can't. He's 26.

I wouldn't object to picking him up in the national draft though. Like you said, he cut it on the big stage.
