Perhaps if the injury toll lengthens, Roos may have to, but at this stage a glaring (to me anyway) difference in philosophy between Roos and Eade is not playing injured players and letting the kids do the job until the regulars are ready.
In both reserves threads I mentioned how Fixter had a terrible, no shocking, first half in the 2's on Sunday, timing and lack of field time being his enemy. Fortunately being in the 2's meant he just stayed on the field and worked through it and his second half was excellent, the Fixter we know.
Now in the last couple of seasons the scenario would have been different. Fixter would have been rushed straight back into the seniors, Powell would have been dropped, hindering his development, Fixter would have had to contend with the same demons he had on Sunday with lack of timing. He would have been dragged and spent the rest of the game on the pine, no better off and no chance of regaining touch.
End result: Powell disapointed about being dropped and an extra development game in the seniors lost. Fixter's confidence down low and not much chance of regaining touch whilst spending large amounts of time on the pine.
Keep the faith Roosy.
BTW. On 2UE last night Roosy was asked if Nicks would be fit. Roosy said he was, but will have to earn his spot through the 2's. That's the thing we need. None of these walk up starts for anybody, unless a half fit player can do a significantly better job than the guy who has covered for him.
