    O'TOTC

We all remember the Team of the Century ~ a collection of 22 out and out Red&White champions and a coach. The out and out best of the best. A recent thread was considering amendments after our grand-final triumph.

I wish to devote this thread to remembering those players that certainly aren't part of the TOTC . . . . . but whose style, efforts, antics, dress sense or ability have made supporting the Swans while they were between premierships, just a little bit less painfull.

In short I seek nominations for the Other Team Of The Century

I'd like to start the ball rolling by nominating several players for the O'TOTC . . . .

    Warwick Capper.
For both his high marking, bad hair, tight shorts and for being possibly the dumbest Swan of all time.

    David Rhys-Jones.
For his incredibly short fuse and the frequency of his visits to the tribunal.

    Leo Barry.
For his death defying aerials and his helter skelter runs from defence.

And a joint nomination of Barry Round & Dean McRae.
The former for decking his coach and the latter for kissing his.

    Any other suggestions?

    Troy Luff.
Strong Mark, Loved a Goal, and blonde Mullet.

    Dereck Kickett.
Always exciting to watch. And a Mop of Curly hair.

Possibly also in the running for the covetted "best beergut ever seen on a Swan" award.

Wade Chapman for allegedly turning @@@@ into strawberry jam
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

A swans player many have forgotten but his guts and courage were what this club is all about the famous no 5 Ian Roberts.

Sure do he was a riverina lad and went on to become a more than handy midfielder ruck rover type then came back to play for East Wagga Kooringal in the local league.
                    cheers Ian

But can he ever be forgiven for transferring to Collingwood?

Nick Davis: for being far and away the most talented player to ever play for the Swans.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

                            O'Team of the Century

and here's me thinking this thread was about the O'Team of the Century - that is, the Team of the Century for players whose names begin with O

Ah well - here's my attempt anyway:

                            B: Mark Orchard (1997-98) Terry O'Neill (1975-80) Jack O'Connell (1922-24)
                            HB: W.J. O'Brien (1928-30) Ryan O'Connor (1999-2000) E.O'Meara (1924-26)
                            C: F. O'Hara (1897-1901) J.A. O'Hara (1897-1900) James "Brum" O'Meara (1933-36)*
                            HF Richard Osborne (1993) Brett O'Farrell (1998) Ryan O'Keefe (2000-)*
                            F: Michael O'Loughlin (1995-)* Max Oaten (1956-62) Craig O'Brien (1996-2000)
                            R: Tom O'Halloran (1918-21)* Jack O'Keefe (1947) Jack Oatey (1944)
                            INT: N. Jack O'Brien (1928-30) Stephen Officer (1971-73) Michael Oaten (1980-82) Leo O'Halloran (1953)
EMG: Ricky O'Loughlin (2002) Chris Obst (2002) Tad Obudzinski (1973)
                            Coach: Jack Oatey

A lot of the early players I know little about - so some of the positions might be fudged a little

Obudzinski gets a gig purely because a name like that demanded inclusion

Oatey never coached the Swans, and in fact only played 5 games for South, but his record in South Australia cannot be ignored

                            * = Premiership player

Yeppo, number 8 circa 1980-85. Nucknamed the "Bionic Man" for his incredible courage to play through horendous injuries. Good player cut down in his prime.......Is that the one ?!
