Hi Guys
I dont know about anyone else but i am absolutely FURIOUS at our so called club right now!
I went to the family day yesterday, as did a lot of people. And was sadly disappointed by the players that chose to bring to the family day. Im not taking anything away from ryan o'keefe, jude bolten, amon buchanon, luke ablett, paul chambers, heath grundy and paul roos and anyone else i may have missed but where were the rest of our players ????
As far as i was aware the family day is meant to be an opportunity to thank the fans for their suppor over the year. Why couldnt they bring some of the more senior players down ? Barry Hall is our captain he should have been there, Brett Kirk, Adam Goodes, Paul William, Michael O'Loughlin. Yes its expensive and probably not an option to bring all the players but why not fly some of the senior players down instead of some of the younger lesser known ones ? it wouldnt cost anymore to fly barry hall down then it would to fly heath grundy or jude bolton.
Does anyone remember the family day a few years ago ? We hired out (melbournes) luna park and all the players were there wandering around for you to have a chat with. Not stuck inside a tent for you to queue for an hour outside of before paying money because you have the audacity to want a photo with a player.
I just feel that as a melbourne based supporter, club member and cheer squad member we are getting royally screwed! We're lucky to see our team play 5 or 6 times a year, even then we usually get 2 maximum 3 after match functions where we can actually talk to our players live. IT JUST SUCKS !
I think its about time the club start paying attention to the melbourne based supporters. Were the ones that stayed true when they went to sydney. I had to laugh at the comment made on sports tonight last night - "the only club lucky enough to have 2 home states" if they keep alienating the melbourne based supporters they wont have a second state pretty soon.
I am staging a one woman protest and not joining the club or the cheersquad this year. I am really really angry !!
And now that i have got that off my chest - i am writing to paul roos!Occupational hazards:

Give some people a foot and they want a yard. While I embrace the history of the Swans, they are now the Sydney Swans. I think the club has bent over backwards for the old South Melb supporters this year. To state that you are not joining the club and the cheer squad sucks after all the club has done for old Souths supporters this year. I hope you piss off and go support another Melbourne based team.

No. I am the same. I take it further - I don't care what they do with their social lives either. It would be different if I actually knew them, but I don't, and anything else seems like being a groupy.Occupational hazards:

You want to talk about Melbourne fans getting stooged? Try living in Western Sydney!
I've just come home from the night at Blacktown, and feel mighty ripped off! The event began at 4.30, with Auskick stuff for the kiddies, and the players were meant to be there at 5pm with the cup for the beginning of formalities. About 5.15 Jared Crouch, Earl Shaw and Luke Vogels turn up with the cup. At 5.20, they couldn't wait any longer to begin formalities, despite Micky O, Darren Jolly and Nic Fosdike not being there yet, so Crouchy took over most of the "script" in place of Micky and Darren in particular, apologetic all the way. By 5.30, it's either "wrap it up" or try to wait it out, with the crowd getting a tad restless.
About 5.35, the other 3 rock up, "we went the wrong way" they say, and so formalities contunued (all 2 minutes of them). By 5.40 things had wrapped up and they started trying to whisk the cup away, because it was scheduled over at Bondi at 6.30. Given that all I really wanted was my damn photo with that cup, I grabbed it and got my pic (several then followed my lead, all the while being grouched at by the guardian of the cup), and then by 5.45 it was gone. The players had the good grace to hang around to sign autographs for the kids, but the general "blah" attittude by all except Crouchy was pretty pathetic.
I feel sorry for Glen and Carolyn at the Greater West regional office, who've spent two weeks working their butts off to organise the event, and got that sort of response.Comment

Get over it. They get paid to play footy and train their bangles of to be good at it. They also have lives. They owe you sweet f.a.
We owe them for entertaining our dull lives.
P.S. When I said 'our dull lives', I really meant 'your dull lives'.

Yet funnily enough our membership $$ help make it possible for them to "train their bangles of" for a living.
I understand there is a level of commitment, and we may be somewhat privileged to get the opportunity to meet/greet etc, but when there is an event THEY committed to, the least they could do is uphold their commitment properly.Comment
