He showed his talent. I was lamenting that we let him go.

Didn't show much talent in the "2004 Adelaide V Swans game".
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I had great hopes for him after '03 (I think I nominated him as a "love child") but I believe it was perhaps time for him to go. A succession of leg injuries to a guy whose best asset was his pace would have hurt. On the other hand he may well excel at Brisbane (he certainly deserves a change of luck).

                What else did he do?

I know he has a terrible run of injuries but if he is a good enough pick up for brisbane to take a punt on why isn't he worth just one more year on our list? I'm probably biased as I rate him very highly but I can't help but feel that the decision to let him go might haunt us for the next 7-8 years.

                  Good luck benny!!!

Brions also reenlisted Stefan Carey a few years back and we've been regretting that decision ever since.

All about list balance for the club, and offering a 'new start' for the player for whom things haven't quite gelled in the old environment. CBolt couldn't find a useful spot with the Blions, for example.

No doubt that Ben Fixter has the ability to be a very useful AFL player. But there are dozens of players running around in the 'minor' leagues who could be very useful AFL players. Things just didn't work out for them, for a variety of reasons.

It may well work out well for Brisbane but we had to make a decision based on what our assessment of his likely future was. The club decided that we had to release him as, let's face it, you can't keep everyone. If he turns the corner good luck to him but it wouldn't make it any worse a decision of Sydney's to let him go IMO.
