Actually, if you're interested (which you probably aren't because it is genuinely uninteresting), you would use '?ire' if you just had the word on its own '?irinn' if used with a preposition eg. in ?irinn, but yu use ?ireann if it comes after another noun.

Don't ask me why, it just goes like that. The language is difficult.

Fear not though, those who have no Irish in them usually want some anyway (and I don't mean that in a sleazy way )

Actually, that is rather interesting. I got my username (to go off on another tangent) quite a few years ago now, when I was first using the internet. I looked up my name, and it said the name "Erin" is, of course, a term for Ireland, but that it originally comes from a goddess, Eirinn. Thus the username. I've since discovered it far more likely came from the name of the goddess "Eriu", but that's not nearly so pretty.

And with a name like Erin, how could I not have at least a little Irish in me? Since I was small, every time I give my name, I hear "oh, that's a good Irish name" (I have a similarly Irish surname and, for that matter, middle name). It used to frustrate me, until Tadhg Kennelly said the very same thing. Suddenly, I was grateful to my mother

                  Actually, it's not that interesting.

Well, maybe a little, but not enough to justify derailing footy-related threads!!

Explains why he dropped so many easy marks during the season, Esp. in the finals series.

Took the one that mattered though, from Jolly's pass in between 3 WCE players.

And then drilled it from 50+.

Relax, I was only kidding! But hey, even the real Eireann agreed with me.

Anybody agree with me that Barry needs to use more of that 'controlled agression' he used in the finals in the normal home and away season. I know he needs to avoid suspension, but not using his ability to intimidate and his physical presence is criminal to me.

I also know that it would re-introduce harsh umpiring on him, but in the business end of the season you started to see that kind of fear and awe in backmen coming back.

When that moron Gehrig came down to 'sort him out' (stiffled giggle) I knew he'd totally rattled the Saints' backline.

Keep it legal Barry, but be rough as a badgers arse!!!

Exactly. Because bar the GF all the games were at night where the footy was little more than a fuzzy yellow blurr down the other end.

I just find all this quite astounding. Here we have a football player paid hundreds of thousands of $$$ to be a performance athlete. And nobody bothers to realy do something about one of the most important things of all, his eyesite.

To see how well Barry has played given this huge definiciency is just astounding. I put down his dropped marks to not being focussed. But now am rather bemused to find out that he WAS focussed all along. Just that his eyes weren't, lol

This also may be a reason for him often missing easy shots at goal. Seeing him every week often from close range, it appears with the naked eye that he often slices the ball off his foot. Considering that you only need to be dropping the ball millimetres off centre to not drop it onto the sweet spot of your in-step properly, thee is more credence to this theiry than I think many realise.
