Perhaps it's a cop-out but I doubt it - I think they really did think the rotating captaincy thing worked well and wanted to try it on a revised basis. Happy to wait & see how it goes rather than the kneejerk reaction from the usual suspects.Comment

The Sydney Swans have named three captains for the 2006 AFL season, with Barry Hall, Brett Kirk and Leo Barry all sharing the responsibility.Comment

Not quite, though I agree that they should have appointed one captain.Originally posted by Sanecow
A total embarrassment.
Three isn't too bad though. I think it'll help share the responsibility of motivating the players in each position (defence, mids, forwards) - it does help the message across during a game.
Now if only they could decide who leads the team out each week.
That's the embarrassing part.
If they must go down this route, I'd make the three of them vice-captains of their respective positions, but also pick one of them (preferably Kirk - him addressing the team in the PF was what swayed me) to be the captain of the side.
Having an (internal) leadership group is all very nice, but I reckon you need that one captain who can pull the players together, someone to rally around, look up to when things are going against them.Last edited by Xie Shan; 16 December 2005, 04:44 PM.Comment
