between the 1995-96 seasons Adelaide recruited Jarman, Ellen, Koster, Bond and Caven from other clubs to 'fill the holes' they had in their side.
Jarman was an established champion, but the rest were 'good average' players - now they are premiership players
Ert, another point to make with these is that all apart from Bond were 'go homers', it's an important aspect to your point.

Anyone can make the claim you are making.

      Back it up!

Where are the facts that support your statement?
Just give me the tiniest clue what you're talking about, Reggi, and I'll be happy to 'back it up'.

If you're asking me to give you a list of the players that Brisbane, Adelaide and Essendon have traded in over the past ten years, then I guess I can. But you know where to find that info as well as I do.

      Ditto for their drafted players.

What 'statement' do I need to supply facts for?

I think we need to wait til the end of the season before damning him for abandoning his "rebuilding" philosophy.
Spot on. It's also not beyond possibilty -- given that Roos has already showed signs of foxing -- that he has absolutely no intention of recruiting Akermanis whatsoever.

His very non-committal statements could have a two-fold positive effect: to underline that no-one on our current squad is safe if they're not up to it, and it may stir things in the Lions camp and encourage divisions there.

From what I've seen & heard of Roos this year, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

          Absolutely correct Red.

If you compare Roos media performance to the other first year coach, Dean Laidley, who has worn his heart on his sleeve in his interviews I've seen, it's clear Roos is playing the media the way he wants to.
What's going on at the club and with the players is most likely a totally different story.

The thing I am liking about Roosy the most is that he is playing things right down publicly but I know he is pumping up and empowering the boys privately.

I have no doubts these boys want to achieve all they can this week, this month and this season. They don't write themself off for finals contention but they don't get ahead of themselves either.

He's a good coach. I think everyone knows where they stand with him. Roosy and Woosha are the two best going around so far this season.

You continuosly want to state that recruiting these players are bought to these clubs to win premiershipsproduce some facts any facts to support your assertion.

Anyone can make these claims - but explain to us how going out and getting these big names was so important to Brisbane Adelaide and S&Don.
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

                Absolutely.

The days of the panic stricken coach are numbered, if not gone.

No more smashing phones in the coaches box.

Eade has gone, replaced by the level headed footy professional.
Coaches like Laidley and Schwab would do nothing to instill confidence into their players. You can visibly see the air of confidence in the Eagles since the change from Judge to Woosha.

Look. Shut up you 2. (harsh but fair)
No one is here to prove anybody wrong. If you want to enforce your arguments, go out and do the research yourselves. As if I'd be fagged wasting my time getting statistical information for any moron (generalised statement) on this or any other board, just to prove myself right to you. Face it, your opinions differ, leave it at that and enforce your OWN opinions with the facts.

Hence brownlow votes get taken off each other (yes Brisbane over the last 2 years is an obvious exception to this brownlow-premiership coefficient).
amm.... lets just run through a few shall we??

                    past 15 winners

                    2002 - S. Black (Lions - 2nd)
                    2001 - J. Akermanis (Lions - 2nd)
                    2000 - S. Woewodin (Melbourne - 3rd)
                    1999 - S. Crawford (Hawthorn - 9th)
                    1998 - R. Harvey (St. Kilda - 6th)
                    1997 - R. Harvey (St. Kilda - 1st)
                    1996 - M. Voss (Brisbane - 3rd)
                    ...........J. Hird (Essendon - 6th)
                    1995 - P. Kelly (Sydney - 12th)
                    1994 - G. Williams (Carlton - 2nd)
                    1993 - G. Wanganeen (Essendon - 1st)
                    1992 - S. Wynd (Footscray - 2nd)
                    1991 - J. Stynes (Melbourne - 5th)
                    1990 - T. Liberatore (Footscray - 7th)
                    1989 - P. Couch (Geelong - 3rd)

so it would seem if you win the brownlow, you are pretty much assured of your team being in the finals at the very least (and 9 times the players teams have occupied a top 3 spot on the ladder)

                    have i missed something?

Yeah the Swans are the team with the most Brownlow wins. And behind us are St Kilda, Western Bulldogs
