    Jude a new forward target??

Reading the latest issue of the Swans magazine i came across an interesting piece of information on the stats page. Jude Bolton took 780 marks last season...out marking Barry by some 500 odd. Were my eyes deceiving me?

    How many contested...?

Like so many midfielders he takes lots and lots of marks by getting free and receiving little short passes.

Total marks are a fairly meaningless measure these days.

Still a very very good mark for his size.

Statistics can be made to say anything, especially with a typo

Jude took 80 marks last season

I do think that whilst he is primarily an in-and-under player he should look to kick a few more goals...only 3 last season

Haha - it did seem like a lot - I was tempted to check given that, IIRC, Hall was in the top couple for total marks.

Goal production from Bolton, and most of our other midfielders, is rather poor.

It is probably the area with the greatest scope for improvement IMHO. We have a potent forward line, a solid defensive group, our midfield can win the ball and delivery to the forwards is improving, but they don't hurt opposition enough on the scoreboard themselves.

The one against Bris was OK, though!

Our gp though is to kick to our forwards rather than to run and carry the ball through the HF line for goals. I sort of agree with you though as I reckon running mf'ers kicking goals from the 50 is a highlight of our code - Willo come on down. NOG - your turn now!

                I think it's a typo. It should be 80 not 780.

I noticed that too. stood out. That is 30 marks a game (if he played all 26).

I have carefully reviewed the archives on RWO in relation to Jude Bolton and I have observed a generally negative vibe towards him in relation to non-headgear performances. I forecast similarly negative comments in relation to this impressive statistic.

Sure, he has some RWO supporters but many archived posts lament his skills when disposing of the football. Steve Wright's observation will catch many by surprise - clearly he has another string in his bow in his ability to find the ball in the air.

Personally, I'd like to see more goals from this amount of marking power. However, with Jude's aerobic capacity from many years of midfield running, he could become one of the most dangerous forwards in the game, playing a role similar to Ryno.

My wife would also add that he is attractive to the eye and his mother would be proud of him. Nice one Stevie. I suggest a few hours were invested on the potty to identify this item!

                            End transmission.
