More a question on kicking ability of some players I havent seen much of

    Can Heath Grundy kick?
Can Malceski kick a distance...i have seen him kick low and hard, with reasonable accuracy, mainly over 40ish metres. He has reminded me of Mark Browning in some ways who could kick a mile

Would his contract have an NFL out-clause? I know most of the NBL contracts have NBA out-clauses, but in that case you are leaving to a competition under the same international governing body (FIBA).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

It wouldn't matter. He would be 'retiring' to take up a new sport - just the same as if Tadhg decides to go back to Ireland.

Of course, what I suspect he hasn't thought about is how he could manage to live in Detroit or somewhere like that, if he couldn't handle living in Melbourne.

I think US$1m per year might help ease his adjustment, and it may be a more interesting city than Detroit.

Apparently the NFL wants to determine how many KFC restaurants that Nick Davis can actually kick over.

It will be part of an advertising campaign that Nick has established with KFC here.

I believe that Nick will kick the ball several times and an average of time and distance will be recorded. This will then be meausred against the width of KFC Restaurants as if they had been placed alongside each other.

The advertising logo will go something along the lines as: KFC an american tradition that even foreigners will punt on!

I believe Barry Hall has also signed a lucrative contract to do a shampoo commercial.

Leo Barry an underarm deoderant sponsership and Luke Ablett is advertising contact lenses.

              It's all true, believe me!

I'm having my best pre-season ever!

Lake Michigan has beaches. Of course the water does get a bit colder in winter and the surf leaves a bit to be desired. No sharks though.

He is a little older now, and I think there were one or two extra things going on at that helped the desire to move back to Sydney. It would be a big risk for Nick if he did it and it required ditching the existing Swans contract, if it all came apart he wouldn't be able to return to the AFL.
I think there is a bit of a case of the "Nick behing honest"s here; a journo has probably put 2 and 2 together, twigged Nick would be the obvious candidate, asked him point blank and he has just given an honest response of "well, DERRRRRRR".

Spot on. He wouldn't even realise that to play in the USA he'd have to get on a plane and leave Sydney. Getting so homesick and all i wonder how he's going to cope with being away from home for a couple of weeks now.

I'm amazed that his mum signed the permission note.

Settle down, Ruda. I wasn't criticising him.

I agree with whoever it was that suggested the idea was put to him by a journo and he answered straight away. I don't have any doubt at all that Nick is like anybody else - that when you stop to have a long think about whether you want to do something, you consider things that you don't think of on the spur of the moment.

You know him. How do you think he would go living overseas for ten months of the year?

I expect that he knew exactly what he was saying and will probably log on here sometime in the next few days for a giggle.

Never wiser words spoken by a lobster.

He is happy to be very honest in interviews, but I'm glad I am not the only one that thinks that Nick also enjoys taking the piss quite a bit?

Considering he's a grown man and NFL isn't something he's only just started thinking about, but instead something he's been interested in for a fair while, he'd be fine.

On the subject of Nick and interviews, I think it is refreshing to hear someone who is not just spurting out the ol' sports cliche. One concept in American sports I've always liked is the NBA naming an "All-Interview" 1st, 2nd and 3rd team; it is voted on by the media and is to give some recognition to the guys who actually say something interesting instead of the same old crap that everyone else does.
