But NFL kickers have got to be able to latch onto a big screw punt. Could you imagine Nick Davis pulling on a helmet at short notice over his mop top? Tadgh in a helmet would be pretty funny though.

I don't think I have EVER seen a Swans player even try a torpie in yonks. Not since Derrick Kickett in the 96 GF at the very least.

I don't think we have much to worry about. The longest and strongest kicks in the league would probably be the Roccas. Or maybe Wirrapunda or McDougall at the Eagles.

Wasn't the kick that ROK hit Davis with in Q4 v Geelong in the finals a torp? Looked like it.

Yep.

Was Davo's kick in rd1 of the finals against the Weagles (his first kick in of the year, straight up the guts on the biggest ground in the AFL and we end up with a goal from it within seconds... but don't give it to him when he's down there lads...) a torp? Pretty sure his one kick against the Weagles in the finals the year before was a big torp in the wet that went 60+ metres (and out on the full!). JF you would have been to training before, you're usually treated to a big torp or two from Nick as they jog from one task to another. He calmly stops and lines up from 55+ metres and can kick it 9/10 with a drop punt, why would he need to kick a torp in games more often?

One of Ben Graham's skills that puzzled the opposition this year was the crazy ol' drop punt.

I once watched an NFL match on TV where the commentators were astounded that the kick returner (Special Teams) actually took all his takes overhead, a la high mark style. I found that a tad comical.

Ten years ago gaelic football gloves were laughed at in the AFL. Now heaps of players use them.

There is a great deal codes can learn from rivals. Why do you think the Wallabies employ John Muggleton to assist them with their tackling (not helped much lately! ) Why do you think the Cronulla Sharks employ Nick Davis and Manly Troy Luff to help them with their drop punting skills. Because let's face it, 60% of leaguies cannot do more than a feeble tumble punt in open play. (Glenn Lazarus used to kick occasonally during games because he played AFL as a kid, incredibly enough)

Look I'm really not getting hot & bothered about the possibility of some aussie kid getting talent spotted by Jose Whatsisname. What I'd like to see - and I bet it's crossed Roosy's mind - is the first AFL team to bag some US superstar athlete wannabe.

Agree, Nick Davis is a man with a very dry sense of humour and you can tell he likes to take the piss our of interviewers. Its refreshing to see that he doesnt take things too seriously.

One quote of his that I loved was when he was asked by a journo "do you have any advice for young kids that want to play in the AFL?" (or something along those lines), instead of the usual "train hard, work on aerobic fitness, train in all weather yadda yadda yadda" Nick's response was "remember it's just a game".

I for one would be upset if he threw away his 2 year contract with the Swans - but hope by seeing his interview it is all a bit of a rev up.

I feel his size would go against position for
NFL - I hope so anyway.

Think he has more to offer the Swans and certainly looks trim and ready to go for the Swans.

Despite what we all think may or may not happen - at the end of the day its his decision - its really none of our business.
