Nice little ground with historical looking grandstands. The fig tree over the northern goal is another local peculiarity. The game's always good for having a first look at the new talent - the result's not as important as giving everyone a run, but it's a great way for the football-starved fans to get a footy fix.

Wouldn't worry too much about this result as we are probably a bit behind in fitness at this stage. As usually happens Roos has them up for round one.
Besides we have no hope of making the 8 in 2006 as all 10 Melbourne Clubs are going so well this pre-season that they will all make the "8". Strewth even Brad Green is spruiking that he aims to step up this season, again. So why not just promote all the young blokes and look to the future.
On SEN yesterday the luminaries were saying Sydney, Adelaide and West Coast would not make the top4. Believe it or not they reckon the Saints have all 4 top 4 spots in the bag. So they will be playing off by themselves, eons away to the rest of the field.
As a matter of fact the way they were speaking we might as well hand the cup to them and all go overseas for season 2006.Comment

I am in the US and asthey are saying during the Play Offs "Great defences win championships"
St Kilda's defence is trash. Plus they are pretty old (Gehrig, Hamill, Powell, Hudhgton).
They have no ruck division which means everything in finals
They have no hope, West Coast are the scary ones - you'd think their best players would walk away angry, the will be 'meaner'.
Judd, Cousins, Kerr,Gardiner (Fit), Embley & Cox.
They can improve a lot, and if they get an effective forward line together - scary.
I think Brisbane are a bit oldYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

Have to agree with ya there!I love North Sydney Oval.A beautiful ground and quite comfy too!One of my fave grounds in Sydney.
I've seen plenty of Bears vs Roosters clashes in Rugby League.a bit of cricket, several Northern Spirit matches in the old NSL and went along last year for the Annual Swans v Bombers trial match last year.Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.
Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!Comment

NSO is a great ground
I took my kids there the other week for the 20/20 cricket
Great atmosphere - full strength beer if you want it
A great venue to open up the new seasonSeptember 24th, 2005 5.14pm
What a great moment in all of our livesComment

I'm driving up for the North Sydney game - anyone in Canberra/Goulburn want a lift? The car is neither smoke- nor music- free!!
Leaving Canberra at lunchtime on the Friday and aiming to hit the hotel in Surry Hills by 5pm. Returning sometime on the Saturday - I've got to get as far as Bungendore, but will get you to Canberra if you contribute for the petrol.
Call 4849 4487 any evening if you're interested (except tonight - off to become an Aussie this evening)
I'm taking a pommie friend who'll be over at the time.
