Sure booze up in the off season, but...

Don't care about their personal life on the drink, sure they can have their fun but if they don't at least have some of crouchy in them then they shouldn't nominate.

Not everyone can get away with it like Davis

It kills to see raw talent waste away, unless they play for Collingwood!
        Staying ahead of the game...

Hmm, I don't like the attitude of some posters here.
If I'm, as a member, giving money to the club I'm expecting the best possible return. That's not charity. I'm with Crouchy 100%. I will not pay foro some players to have fun, chase women around and produce nothing on the field. I would imagine that people who normally do not support the club financially have those crazy ideas.

I agree that people must have fun and I'm all about it, but it must not affect the on-field performance.

From what I saw that weekend there was never a tap on the shoulder, but it was the example set by the likes of Crouch that sent the message. There were a couple guys who went the bender(mentioned above), but it was evident Crouch's message was received loud and clear to the young guys. At every function these kids were drinking water, perhaps the occassional beer, but nothing over the top.

Regarding Crouch, I'm really surprised the guy is not part of the leadership group. He was by far the most active player in the club over the entire week. Like he said he arrived early and did every kids clinic we ran including one Saturday afternoon. He took training with the Revos that morning in the cold and wet, and that night represented the playing group at the Gala Dinner. The guy's a class act. To some he might seem a bit aloof, but I think his personality is such that he prefers to set examples by his actions rather than his words.

Very well put. To many people will bag Crouch for his strict attitude to training etc, then get stuck into a Mott type player for being out there partying too much. You can't have it both ways and still win a premiership.

What you think if you drink behind closed doors the truth wont come out eventually?

I think id rather starve myself of alcohol and get that premiership glory!

I would think mott is regreting his actions now considering he no longer has a club prepared to have some1 like him on their list!
This tells us alot bout what clubs think of heavy drinkers!

we all know where crouchs support lies- half on and half off the bandwagon it seems till he plays a good game and all are on again!

I honestly don't think giving up a bit of booze is veyr much to as for givenn you're living your dream of playing professional football..?

It's not like it is 'no alcohol end of story full stop no questions no exceptions' anyway and as someone said before, there's the end of the season.

& come on, if the Irish one can do it..

Crouch is dead right on this one. Jesus, we have murderous problems in our club keeping ones off the drink to try and winn matches. So much talent gets squandered so people can drink to excess to make themselves feel like men.

It's a redundant and sad culture binge-drinking culture and it certainly should be discouraged in the strongest terms in fellas who's job relies on peak physical performance. Alcohol poisons the body in excess.

Enjoy a swally, but keep it sensible.

                          I, of course.......am not a professional athlete.......

and Crouch has played how many games has Crouch missed? None - he may seem to be a stick in the mud to some, but he is really only saying to drink in moderation and be responsible for your actions. Is that so bad???
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

But missing games doesn't necessarily mean someone has been on the turps.

While the abstinence has helped with his fitness and endurance, Crouch has been extremely lucky with injuries.
