The melee that Minkus refers to was in round 4, and was at the SCG.

The goalkicking spree was in round 19 at the Whitten Oval. I was there that day... I hated that ground with a passion, but that game was a good day.

The white shorts didn't do much for Plugger though

That was when we played Geelong in 1993 from memory. I recall as the Geelong Grog Squad quipped that in Sydney even the ambulances were red and white.

And I quipped "yeah, somebody would still being asking if St George was playing today" (The Geelong fans didn't really get that one too well)

Well what do you expect, from Geelong supporters. They still think they should have played St Kilda in the 2005 PF

            I wasn't there.

But I do remember going to that muddy hole the next time (1996). Much of the crowd swapped ends with Plugger. After the 16 in '95 there was an expectation of some broken records that day, but in the end I think Plugger only kicked 10.

            Only 10!

Gotta tell you - still miss him ... sniff ..

Those glorious sundays at the SCG (sigh) as the sherrin would come dropping in like some missile .. a fullback would be lamely attempting a spoil by holding onto the jumper or a partial grapple - then comes a shrug or "don't argue" - the smoke would clear .. and the deafening roar "Yessssssssssss" would say it all.

              Ahhhhhh .. memories.

                Thanks Charlie.

I've never seen the Rnd 19 game though. IIRC in sydney, channel seven broadcast something else (possibly another footy game..) during that mighty effort. We only got updates and small chunks of highlights during the quarter/half time breaks.

Does anyone else remember this or am I just going insane??

Seven also did something similar in 97 (Rnd 2? against the dogs) when they decided to continue to show the tennis, instead of the swans. I have vivid images of my dad ringing up and verbally assaulting whoever answered the phone for the network.

Lets hope that doesn't continue with 7 and 10 getting the rights again...but I do remember not being able to see the 16 goal game for some stupid reason...like some other supporters wanted to see their team

And maybe we never will. The Name A Game catalogue doesn't have it... they seem to have every game from 1996 on, but only 4 games for each round in 1995.... and round 19 Swans misses out.

I do recall seeing highlights so there must have been cameras there

I remember thinking how cool it was that Cressa was voted Player of the Round on Melbourne radio as a reult of his DIY surgery.
