For those who wanted us to keep Shannon Grant...

I was never sure why we were so keen to let go such a good player. Sure we did ok out of Schwatta but he has long since retired and Shannon is reaching the peak of his game right now, with at least another 3 or 4 years in him. But I think the answer is in the Rick Barham rule:

"NORM Smith medallist and Kangaroo star Shannon Grant has been fined $5000 by his club and faces on-going counselling after turning up to training affected by alcohol.
    ...
A chastened Grant, who has been disciplined and cautioned previously by the club over his off-field behaviour, has since been fined and counselled."

It was also because he's a big sooky mummy's boy who cried into his pillow at night beacuse he missed his mummy and daddy so much. He stamped his feet and cried and sulked until the club relented and allowed him to transfer back to Melbourne.

I never knew we'd recruited Nick Reiwoldt!

Why is that players are called "mummy's boys" simply because they want to move back to their hometown?

I'm never sure about why so many people fail to realise that Grant was out of contract and "walked". Sure, he co-operated with the club to enable them to trade him and thus get some value in return, but the club had no say in the matter.

Not unlike the circumstances through which the Swans secured the likes of Lockett and Hall.

The fact was, that like Rocca, he never wanted to go to Sydney. He and his family were devestated when Sydney called out his name. This was all captured by a documentary team at the time of the draft. The family carried on like they were on a Jerry Springer show. He wanted out at the first opportunity and took it.

He got drunk. So what. I'd still like him at the club because he's a damn good player.

Grant didn't want to be here, so stuff him.
Plus we got Schwatta for him who won a B & F with us, so i got over it pretty quickly.

Ever noticed that Collingwood are a better team when Rocca doesn't play?

So does that mean we'll all be shouting out to Sylvia to join in the "kick to kick"

Now how did that Slim Dusty song go...

I like to have a kick with Colin, I like to have a kick with him, we'd kick in moderation, one more beer then onto the gin......we'd kick our girlfriends to Sunbury, because we're not fast enough to catch a sheep, I'd like to have a kick with Colin because Colin's a dill.
