Although we probably have a fair few of our own, i never use to dislike StKilda until 04 when the termites came out the woodwork. Where i live is largely populated by StKilda supporters and there were so many you would never have even know followed footy. Then when they come good they start sticking it to you when they win with things like... we beat you.....yeah i heard it on the news. The type that unless its a home game dont even know their team is playing. Easy to ignore but enough reason to laugh at their poor performances.

i think grant thomas is an egomaniacal moron and is going to fine-tune that club right into the ground "eddie jones" style.
this kind of inflexible crap is destroying the chances of those young fellas enjoying their football in the ruthless pursuit of a premiership. if they don't succeed, then all they will have is failure. the prevailing attitude seems to be one of obsessiveness bordering on superstition and it makes me very ill to see human beings like ball and riewoldt become mindless automatons spouting the empty platitudes of their vacuous cult "leader".
i'm so repulsed by what i see come out of that club i can't quite articulate it properly but if they win a premiership and in doing so promote their bull**** into the machinations of other clubs then i will go into some kind of meltdown.then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i knowComment

I don't understand this - I've watched the replay DOZENS of times. It's really a very good game of footy, Nick - do yourself a favour.Comment

No, really, we should be even more *cough* fearful of them now they have introduced the "no thongs" policy for all their players *sniggers uncontrollably*

Carlton and Collingwood were no better last year when it came to tanking. It was like a bottom of the table competition to see who could finish bottom without looking blatantly obvious. Sadly, the AFL hasnt changed the extra draft pick rule which rewards tanking. The Hawks did fight to retain Everitt (unfortunately).
Carlton are still carrying the baggage of being cut out of the draft for a couple of years. Putting aside arguments of whether they were reasonably or unfairly treated, the fact remains that they had to take a different approach to recruiting for a while. They didn't stack up with lots of low quality kids, but did at least try to find mature, experienced b-grade players to help the few quality young players they had develop. With hindsight they were probably too light on for topliners but I think they were at least trying to remain competitive (and did win 8 or 9 games in 2004, not to mention the 2005 Wiz Cup).
Collingwood, too, have balanced their recruiting between mature aged depth and kids. Caracella and Morrison are two examples of decent players they recruited. Going back a couple of years, Woewodin is another. And however much we love to hate Collingwood, it's hard to dispute the fact that they did have a bad run with injuries last year - injuries to their top half a dozen or so players.
The Hawks have a very good top tier of players - Crawford, Hodge, Mitchell, Everitt, Williams, Croad. If they had actively sought up some mid-range support for these players they would stand every chance of being competitive next season. But no, instead they have chosen to systematically tank, not on match day but in assembly of a squad that has zippo chance of being competitive for the next year, knowing that not only will there be no penalty but instead they will be rewarded for a third successive year of complete and utter crapness.Comment

Is this what you would call a good professional? One that wants to constantly improve and sees a defeat as an opportunity to review his mistakes, learn from them and ensure that he doesn't make the same mistakes again?
Or is he just a sook??"You got .. rock 'n roll eyes ..!"Comment
