He is probably the only player you would back to kick regularly from 50 on an acute angle. Those goals made all the difference on Saturday night. Fossie played well too!

Yeah, Grant
You always hoped (crossed fingers, legs, touched wood, whatever) when we lined up from 40 - 50 metres out...you hoped, but did not expect us to kick true. Now with ND you can confidently expect full points from that range. Of course, he will miss some, but when he has the ball at that range I feel confident... Now if he'd had that ball and not ricky mott...hmmmm"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."Comment

In normal cases, there is a finisher and a creator who creates the goal. In Davis' goals, he plays both roles. Did people see Frawley's face after Davis sunk the second one. Priceless.
With this ability, he adds a valuable dimension to the team. This is what we want and expect from him. He is getting there.Comment

on Crouch, Fosdike and McPherson
Even though I like Crouch & Fosdike, their tackling and contesting
and hardness are pretty well spot on with what Nico said.
I know people will come back and say that Crouch is one of the leading tacklers in the comp according to the stats and the article in this weeks Telegraph, but Nico is 100% right
As for McPherson, he was just plain soft. I hope he never plays again in the top side.
I know that ND was not recruited as a "paul Kelly" type player,
but there is no excuse for not tackling, shepherding or pulling out of contests.
Thank goodness for Jude Bolton
Davis is a class act, we know he is soft, but he is a matchwinner. Kicked 3 great goals on Saturday night, really important ones too.Bloods

If you watched Davis closely on Saturday you would have seen that he has impeccable disposal, both shooting for goal and field kicking.
The stats show he had a clanger. Can anyone point it out to me.
He covered a lot of ground both forward and back and had 16 possessions. He also had 4 tackles and on the Herald Sun rankings was rated 4th on the ground.
His efficiency was very high indeed, and he was into the packs getting into the hard stuff for the first time. Looks like he is nearing peak fitness.
We are on to a very, very good bet in Davis. He adds real quality to this side and should only get better.Comment

Davis is improving but is soft and lazy -needs to work a lot harder.
Bit harsh on Fosdike.
Can't believe anyone would describe Crouch as softYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

No other player in our team and maybe a handful in the league could kick all those goals nick did on saturday night, and it was no fluke as we have seen over and over again this season.
The nick davis show is only round the corner...

sorry for not responding earlier
Penga, No offence mate but your first post was kinda confrontational. General OP excuses are my pet hate (close with telstra stadium) and their is always the vague possibilty that i may have some vague knowledge in this area.
Reggi, derrrr did not pick the DRJ !!! but kind of amusing considering the previous posts on another site when we picked up LRT, but you may not remeber. On Nicks, well what can you say even on the weekend against the ferals he was soft as usual and did not put in. Admittedly i was not there and TV is not a great judge of "off the ball work". I would love to believe he was putting in the yards to make a contest, throwing himself in, giving a tough shepeard, but sadly, NO
I would love to hear otherwise though ?Comment

The thing with Davis is if he marks the ball on and inside the 50 metre line, he will drill it for a goal. If he is inside 50 anywhere and gets a good aim at the ball, chances are he will drill it too.
He definitely gets automatic selection from his kicking factor. We know that if the ball lands in his hands, it's almost sure to be a goal. Its true that hes not very physical and a bit lazy, which we see every game, but if he can add a few goals per game in the foward line, i think thats good enough for him to keep playing.Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goalComment

Isn't it great to have a goal kicking forward who produces the goods at the critical time of a game. Now on his way to 50 goals for the season. Most top sides over the years have had a high scoring half forward.Comment
