I wouldn't be too worried about all this folks. The AFL had no problems in quickly coming to the aid of the Bulldogs.

As one scribe said on the radio this morning, there is no way the AFL is about to let Sydney fall over. They know we are good for the competition. I

Indeed to be truly National how could they not have a team in the city which is the centre of the universe.

The only difference between us and Freo is that Wayne Jackson has not sung the club song on National TV with the Swans.

The Board has got one thing right. They appointed Paul Roos in the end.

No professional sporting team in Sydney is commercially viable on their own. Rugby league only exists because of poker machines, same as the Kings in the NBL.
Much as I hate pokies and the damage they do to people's lives, is there some way the Swans can get in on the act and get some of that money?

Just heard on 3AW that a club benefactor tipped in a substantial amount 2 hours ago.

A very good point was raised by Norris Lurker. Why the Swans don't have their own premises ? For as long as I can remember the Swans have used some other body's premises for after match functions etc . Obviously in the current financial crisis little can be done but something could be planned as a long term goal . Richard Colless has a backgroud in property trusts so the expertise is on tap , so to speak.

It seems to me that money from the good years has been fritted away with little to show now except a lot of debts when with some planning we could have been in a healthy situation and not relying on the goodwill of others. A lack of accountability may have been the problem.

There is one thing I can agree with Bryce on and that is the need for some sort of clubhouse. Maybe we should look into a deal simular to the one with Easts in the mean time

Well I havent seen any media all day today and to come to this tonight i- .

The AFL seem to be understanding that the circumstances we face and they wont let us fold, but this only adds to more fodder for the "lovechild" tag, even as good as the excuse may be it only adds fuel to the fire.

What I'm worried about is this mentioning of a $400000 payment to wallace - if this is true and comes out we can kiss roos goodbye. .

              Not a good day

Why would we kiss Roos goodbye? We might kiss some draft picks goodbye though!

But Honestly the way to srt this out is to give the blokes involved a lie detector test. Sometimes you have nothing more to go on than gut instinct and on this one I'd have to say it smells from here. There is no reason at all to believe the protestations of innocence coming from all parties.

If Today Tonight offerred thema lie detector chance to clear the air I would bet half my house they would not take it.

Why would we lose Roos ?

Well he has been asked many times about the Wallace issue and he has stated many times that all people involved with selecting the coach have looked at him right in the eye and told him there was no payout to Wallace and all he can do is believe that. But he said if there was information found to the contrary and wallace was selected first then paid out he would be very "disapointed" and really how do you expect a bloke to put in 100% for the team when he knows he wasnt first choice, his board have been lying to him etc Roos would be out of there quick smart mark my words.

in all honesty i don't really care about you all arguing about what has caused the swans to be in this mess but i think we should start thinking of ideas to help them out.
Yeah and just end up like the Bulldogs time, and time, and time, and time again! But if anyone here would like to throw their money at the club without any indication of viability in the market, then go right ahead. I'm willing to put my $2.50 in if everyone else is.

This is BS! And I'm pissed off. The club needs to come clean to it's supporters now. I'd suggest that this has been lurking in the wings for quite some time now.

They HAD that chance when South Melbourne was touted to go to Sydney. If not for KSAS the Sydney Swans would have had a lucrative spinoff from the pokies.

Swans should have established licensed premises many years ago.

What about at Moore Park Bowling Club in 1993/4 when Barrassi
used to get up and speak about his plan for the future.

Now our after match functions with Luffy are at the SCG, with
                                crappy service and overpriced drinks.

I'd be happy to spend some of my $$ in a Swans Licensed club
at an after match function rather than being "clipped " again after paying for over priced food & drink and @@@@ srvice at the S.C.G
