If this is the incorrect e-mail address, could you please forward it to the correct one. Could you please give me directions on how I and other fans can make such a contribution?

I have no interest at the current point in time in laying blame for what has occurred. Changes can come later, if they are necessary. First, I simply want to see the club safe and financially healthy, and am willing to do whatever is necessary and possible to achieve that.

Also, I would just like to make it clear that the support from me and other fans for the Club, Paul Roos and the players will not waver. Although the extent of the current situation is not clear, I feel 100% certain that the club is still currently going through one of the most exciting times in it's recent history, and that it will emerge from this latest challenge stronger than before.

          I reckon it's a beat-up too. What I think was really said:

"Just a heads up guys - if we're not careful with how we're getting and spending money, the club could be in a bit of financial trouble sooner rather than later"

After a bit of spin-doctoring and poetic licence later:

"SWANS READY TO COLLAPSE! MERGERS AND HANGINGS PREDICTED!!"

The club needs to get on top of all this, but let's not panic yet ok?

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

$250,000 is a bit short. I thought it was more like 600 large.

Good idea Des!! I reckon a few public hangings would really get the crowds in. Probably get us live prime time TV too!!

Oh, I'm not suggesting we all sit around and twiddle our thumbs. Just thought that the rumours of our club's death has been greatly exaggerated, is all.

I'm happy to do my bit - dragging people to games, maybe getting merchandise through the club, small donations if need be - but I'm going to wait till the dust settles in a couple of days to see what happens.

I reckon if we start the hangings early enough, people might actually get to the games before the 1/4 break

it's ironically good promotion for Saturday night's big game!

also, the Swans are the jewell in the crown of the national comp.

the AFL's presence in Syd via the Swans generates tens of millions of dollars annually re improved league sponsorship and TV contracts... there is NO WAY the Swans would be allowed to go under and I am not concerned in the least.

Could you imagine the party at NRL and ARU headquarters if the Swans folded - i.e. no AFL competition in Sydney... not a chance that the AFL would allow this to happen.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

$250K is fantastic. Like Charlie, I'm prepared to part with some of my hard-earned if the club really needs it. Its better than going the tin-rattle.

Now - all my life I've gone for a soccer team called Wolverhampton Wanderers. The last 19 years we have drifted around outside the top soccer division in the UK, at one point falling to the lowest professional league and had a succession of fruitloop owners. We've (I can use the "we" after 39 years, 19 of them painful) just got promoted to the English premier league mainly through the money pumped into the club by one guy (Jack Hayward) over the last decade. The amount ?

                                50 million pounds - $120,000,000 !!!

If I see Jack next time I'm over at Molineaux, I'll put in a word for the Swans.

                                Andy
(sorry, just wanted to drop Wolves into the conversation)
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.
