    Colless. Fool or Genius?

The swans financial troubles have been on record since the start of the year, and really nothing new is coming out in this latest media frenzy.

So, is this a media stunt to divert attention away from the RL SOO and get the swans back in the news prior to the Essendon game ?
RL was swamping the media for the last two weeks, but now its sharing the back pages with the swans, and the swans news has gone from "broke", to needing a top up of capitalization. ie getting more positive by the day.

There is nothing the Sydney media love more than a swans in trouble story, so could this be a media manipulation that would make Eddie McGuire proud?

IMO Colless is neither "fool" nor "genius"- but somewhere in between.

He has done a great job resurrecting the club from the early 90's and has presided over one of clubs most successful periods- however I feel he and the board should have seen the "warning" signs earlier.

As far as a "media stunt" goes- I can't see the club totally "fabricating" a story such as this to take on RL- it is too detirmental to the swans reputation not to have some merit.

Having said that- I would agree that the swans have "timed" the release of this story to coincide with RL SOO and the big SA game against Essendon.

My spin on the situation is that Colless is just playing the AFL media game- drop a "bombshell" to rattle the cages at AFL HQ and get club sympathy- then follow up that the situation isn't as bad as the "media" has reported.

?The club is not dependent on direct AFL financial support to survive until November,?

?I think it's fair to say that given some of the people that sit on our board, they wouldn't still be here if they thought the end was nigh.?

        Fool

The guy is useless. The Swans were at rock bottom when he took over, there was only one way to go.

His handling of the Paul Roos appointment was a joke.
