Lack of Passion from the Swans....

    ..supporters in the second quarter.

Essendon get a few goals and the behaviour of the crowd near me (Aisle 104) would have been acceptable in a library.

Of course this would not apply to the R&W Onliners.
But the lack of support from certain sections of the crowd , at a time when the boys needed it , was a disgrace.

Hmmmm.... lack of passion?? Maybe. Maybe not.

I think it might have been because everyone was frozen because it was so incredibly COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(BTW -- I'm in Ailse 112 and the supporters there were more than vocal all match!)

Excellent win by the swannies! Well played boys!

    Yippeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh give it a rest. i went with 2 mad bombers fans as well as had quite a few sitting near by. they were roaring in the first half but were totally silent the rest of the match, even when the bombers kicked a goal. i am so sick of people bagging the swans fans for this. when essendon kicked those goals there were chants of sydney trying to get the boys to lift.

Well , fine , if the crowd near you were chanting after Lucas started getting on top , that is a great .
I could not care less what your Bomber mates did - they are in the same category as the silent Swans fans if they don't cheer when things go against them.

I speak of the few thousand near me - they could not even be shamed into getting behind us in the early part of the 2nd quarter and that , I reiterate , is a disgraceful lack of passion.

Well, it wasn't the worst I've seen, but it WAS a quiet first half. I'm usually the only one within 10 metres yelling and screaming abuse

That's the tendency of the crowd in the stands though (this is where I normally sit)... MOSTLY passive observers, and get into it if the boys are firing.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I only had a t-shirt, as i knew i would be too hot cheering!
I then proceeded to lose my voice during the 2nd quarter!
I had quite a few people around me staring as they were chardony sippers or something. Its like they didnt think it was right to yell and scream!
And dont get me started on thos bombers supporters, we had some behind us and they had little kids who kept on hitting our heads all night, i felt like belting them one across the head, however when we asked the parents to control them they were a bit better

The crowd did seem on the quiet side compared to the SCG. Glad I worn the thermals and brought a blanket!

Get real Swanswinger. Not everyone who goes to the footy gets carried away with the emotion. Some become very intense when the game is close.

                      Agreed , Nico.
I feel sorry for them - they are missing out on half the fun.

                        Bless you , Thommoone.
I too was "scantily clad" in shorts and also lost my voice in the 2nd quarter.

If you feel like making a noise and getting away from the Chardonnay brigade , see you in Bay 7 Row B O'Reilly on Saturday.

CS was very quiet as per usual, bar the back row bandits But i think the acoustics at SA are a bit bizarre - i was out with the banner and the bombers ran out the noise was very muffled compared with the SCG - normally you can hear distinct cheers and distinct boos even when they are happening simultaneously. But last night it was just this strange strange mumbly tye of noise, and it was pretty much the same for when the swans ran out as well. Will be interesting to see how it changes when the roof at each end is completed.

And for the record, it was a measly 5degrees last night BEFORE factoring in the wind chill!

by far the coldest footy game ive been to...

one thing i saw on the replay that brought a huge smile to my face was a bunch of about 10 lebanese youths standing up waving their jackets around their heads after bazza kicked that goal from 55m out...

im gonna be rather stereotypical, but from my guessing theyd be new to the game (looked like canterbury supporters, or soccer) and that is the crowd we r trying to reach by playing out there... good sign for things to come IMO
