    Terry Wallace

    On Melb radio this evening.

"If Sydney is paying me all this money why am I working 3 jobs"

Said Sydney did not offer him the job stated categorically that Sydney nor anyone associated with Sydney nor the AFL are paying him money.

    Finished

Said he decided he didn't want to move to Sydney - the Swans board had decided to back Roos.

Good on you Tez! (Probably the first time I've thought that). Hopefully all the innuendo can be put to rest now and let us concentrate on how well the team is playing at the moment.

Lizz Wallaces comment won't be used at all in the media because it gets in the way of a good lie

Right now the only way the hacks can get stuck into us is over the financials, and wispy bollocks such as this Wallace rot. They would have dearly loved to write stories about how Roos was wrong for the job etc etc all year...In fact there was at least one article when we lost those 3 in a row...something aobut Roos being "popularly elected".

          Garbage.

Shame us making a run at the finals wasted all that hatred down south. Now MCC spokespersons like Caroline Wilson will just have to keep writing about how useless Richmond are all over again.

The sooner they're forced to write about how Sydney beat Collingwood by 10 goals in a final the better.

Have to say, I think Smorgon rubbing it a bit thin. He's been one of the principals' in the Syd slagging every since Wallace left his club. I don't see the point in supporting us in one breath, and then crapping on about how the AFL should look seriously into these allegations in another.

As a Melbournian I must say that I don't think that the every day footy journo has it in for us. We get ignored a bit down here, just like the other interstate clubs simply because it is perceived that unless you are pushing the local clubs you won't sell papers.

Lets face it the Sydney press doesn't bend over backwards to promote us. In Melbourne it is footy, footy, footy everyday, so any story with a bit of spice in it will get a run for a few days.

No doubt though the football public and the press are very much sitting up and taking notice, and we are getting good coverage, and good press on the onfield performances, particularly on radio.

There are also many people down here who think of us as their second team, which dates back to the days when we had a mortgage on Sunday arvo footy in Melbourne. The likes of Eddie Maguire might not have much time for us, but you don't here too many of the average supporters on a day to day basis having it in for us.

As a matter of fact it is pretty comfortable being a Swans supporter here at the moment.

Good - they are learning to hate us - we are doing something right.

They'd better get used to it.

LOL. I don't care if they hate me... as long as I can go home and polish up that replica Sydney Swans Premiership Cup. Nah.... not good enough. Let's try that again.

About time Wallace spoke up - sure took his time.
Should get his comments on Sydney radio to Steve Price on 2ue - follows Richmond and ex Melbournian.

Wallace has spoken up before Yesterday, in fact he said that the Swans weren't paying him when the topic first came up last year. Just a case of the Melbourne media needing something write negative about us following on from last weeks news which already was 6 months old.

Wallace has denied it since the beginning. I heard him deny it on several different radio stations after Roos was appointed. I also saw him on TV denying it. That is what made me so mad. Every party has denied it and it is not in the books. That hasn't stopped some saying the books might be cooked and by inference the membership of the whole Sydney board are lying. How many times does it have to be deniedWhat is worse some of these denigrators claim to be Sydney supporters and one in particular (with some connection to the Cheer Squad) even goes on BIGFOOTY and proclaims it and wants Colless not to go on holidays so he can deny it some more. Pathetic :-(

I think the main reason why it kept getting raised is that people didn't believe Wallace could afford to step down from the Bulldogs if he wasn't guaranteed something else. He was walking away from 400k remember, not easy to get that sort of money on radio doing the odd slot.

Right. I thought about that quite a bit at the time. Shortly after after he quit he said his manage had told him their were quite a few vacancies coming up and was confident he would get one. There were a few vacancies. Carlton, Nth Melbourne, Sydney, and I think Hawthorn (his old club) were a possibility.

Also worth considering were his stated reasons for leaving the Bulldogs and his comments he was sick of the financial problems the club had and the continual delisting of players and ray reductions.

At the time he quit nobody thought he wouldn't get another job easily. Carlton and then North Melbourne were his stated preferences. He said early on he wanted to stay coaching in Melbourne. All this had been 'lost' for the sake of the story.

He is hardly going to sit back and say, "Thanks for the money Sydney. The yacht off Mallorca is great!"

The last thing he wants to do is incriminate Colless, does he? Then both he and RC would look bad.

Of course he didn't want to go to Sydney. Roos was there, and firming in favour, arguably due to the supporter backlash.
