The attempted spoil by LRT on Skipper ended up puncturing a lung and fracturing a rib. Having looked at the incident again on tape, I must say it doesn't look good as he wasn't facing the ball and he missed by quite a margin. May go on a reckless charge.
Will LRT get suspended?

Will LRT get suspended?
-
my thoughts too - it will definately be looked at"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''. -
happened right in front of me and was disgusted that the SCG crowd was booing the decision of a free kick! i thought (at the time) that it was worth an instant 50...
now i think it deserves 2 weeks... IMO
there were a couple of late hits in the first half which were pretty diappointing!C'mon Chels!Comment

Yeh I think he will definately go, but I think he should learn a valuable lesson if he gets rubbed out. The whole incident reeks of a young over enthusiastic kid trying to assert himself but really being very reckless and messy.
Will be a good lesson for him if he goes. IMO 1-2 weeks but I'm counting on one.No.1 ticket holder of Nick Davis Fan Club...Comment

@!#!##@$@#!$, you guys are kidding me right!!!!
It was a pretty genuine marking contest in which, granted LRT, was a *little* clumsy in his attack on the ball, and the injury unfortunate, but weeks!!!!!!!, come on guys. There's plenty more that goes on that doesn't get anything.
The umpie was right on the spot as well, if he didn't think there was even 50m at the time then I'd say there was little in it.Comment

I'm sure he didn't mean to injure Skipper, but it was reckless play. It reminded me of the incident Powell got suspended for in the pre-season. Just a clumsy attempt to spoil.Comment
-
i have seen that a few times now and there was nothing in it at all. the umpire was close enough anyway and would have reported him if there was. footy is a hard game and if players start getting rubbed out just for going in hard, than footy will lose the respect it has.Comment

But there has been no question about the incident until AFTER it was revealed what Skipper's injury is. I'm with Flop here - it was unfortunate and I feel bloody sorry for the guy, but the umpire was right there and if LRT was gonna get reported it should have happened by now imo.
And people either weren't present or have forgotten Matthew Lloyd in 1996 collided with one of our players during the prelim final and ended up with the same injury - there was no suspension over the incident because it was a part of play. A bad part, mind you, but just "one of those things" that landed him in hospital.Comment

By all means, make him face the Tribunal, but give him a slap on the wrist, don't shatter the kids enthusiasm.Only 9 notes? How easy can it be!Comment

why should a player face the tribunal to get a slap on the wrist ??
facing the tribunal is not a punishment, it is to be used to determine what punishment should be given.

From what I saw he had his eyes firmly on the ball so there was no problem.
I was happy to see him go in hard. It is a CONTACT sport anyhoo!"My theory is that the universe is made out of stupidity because it's more plentiful than hydrogen" - Frank ZappaComment

Should he be reported simply because there was an injury that came out of it?
I mean, if they all got up and played on then he wouldn't be reported for the same action, would he.
IF he was reckless, he should be reported, injury or no injury.
But not just because of the outcome. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

Those of you who think he should go are kidding yourselves. Why???? Because at the time he didn't even give away the free kick, the mark was paid and even I thought that was lucky. To report him would show how weak the AFL has becomeOnce was, now elsewhereComment

Well no report has come forth yet, but the video review is underway as we speak - I 'm prepared to hear he has been reported.
As soon as I saw the incident, even before I found out the bulldog had an injury I was thinking he will get reported for that.
If he gets reported it will be for reckless play. You cant go into a marking contest with your elbow rammed into the ribcage, he wasnt even near the ball which will make it worse. Very very messy.No.1 ticket holder of Nick Davis Fan Club...Comment
