Yes Bart, I think you are right about Warfey - the kick OOTF was bad - he tries hard but his skills are poor. Nicksy hasn't looked good either. I reckon dropping a few blokes might wake everyone up.
how nice of the umps to cost us 2 goals right at the end with crap decisions....27 points was a fair margin...39 is not a reflection of how we played.
We have definitely played worse this year, but have also played better. I'm not too sure what we can take out of the game, except maybe the way we started, but we got a bath in the second half, especially at the stoppages and ground level.
I guess the big test now is how we back up next week against the Weagles.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
Get on Wanganeen for the Brownlow - the umpires love him - he goes near the ball and instantly is awarded a free!
Free kicks after 1/4 time (7 Swans 6 Port) 6 Swans - 14 Port!
The umpires just listen to the crowd over there.
Good games from Cressa, C.Bolton, Kirk (did pretty well on Stevens, Schneider (took his chances), Davis was OK.
Looks like a few injuries - Mick O, Mathews and Ball were all off the ground in the last 1/4. Mathews will miss a few at least - his ankle was heavily iced and bandaged.
I reckon Craig Bolton is one of the best pick ups we've ever had - he never stops trying and you can see he just knows how to play the game. Very good reader of the play. Cornes got a few kicks but most were at the end when the game was over.
Does anyone else think the ground was in poor condition? Clumps of grass all over the place - looked like a cow paddock!
Well, I had this one pencilled in for a loss - no real shock there. We really should have made the possession count in the first quarter, and once port got on top (as they were bound to do) they converted their chances. Mike is right - next week is the key. winnable game at home.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out.... Des' Weblog
One thing about games like that is you really get to see where the weak links are.
Warfe simply is a spent force - struggled in contest - was a high % chance of turning the ball over - he really needs to go - just ain't good enough.
Nicks some players as they age get by on 'footy smarts' - Nicks ain't one of them - too easily beaten in one on one contests - did he win any?
If we have ambitions of doing something this year those two need to be removed they are not good enough.
End of year both need to be delisted so the club can move they just are not quality AFL players any more.
O'Keefe just goes at AFL level if we are a good side - or playing against good sides we can't afford to have him - maybe don't delist but if he was good enough he would have showed it in todays conditions.
We need to start finding a replacment for Schauble.
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler
