Nicks I would give 2 more weeks - I think he deserves it as he does have a lot of ability.

Warfe probably should go but we need someone to replace him - if Seymour was fit it would be easy but I can't think of anyone else - maybe Powell?

Schaubs was OK - he plays pretty well considering he is very slow - but we need Saddo back. If we can get Doyle back I will be happy - he gives us so many more options.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

          Surely you jest!

Did you see him win a one on one contest - he was massacred out there - he is a shocker after Warfe he is easily the weakest link and has been for a few years - if we want to improve he must go.

Reggi, I think we need to examine Nicks' career - he is a player that can play very well. You and I don't know if he is carrying an injury for example.

I think a player deserves a few chances - but I do agree he is close to going. But who do you replace him with? I don't think we have anyone knocking down the selection door...

Always disappointing to lose, particularly when the scoreline doesn't really reflect the game, but not a complete disaster. The boys clearly were switched on in the first quarter and was a real shame they couldn't keep the pressure on by actually scoring some real points. I thought they were much better than in the loss to the Roos and still seemed to be trying to work as a team.

Cressa and Bolton worked exceptionally hard for four quarters, particularly Jude, I thought. C Bolton was playing on Cornes, who was probably best on ground, yet I didn't think he was disgraced. He probably just struggled to keep up with him when he roamed around the ground.

Agree with comments on Warfe and Nicks. If we are to become genuine contenders in the next few years it is hard to see them being a part of it. They have been decent servants of the club over the years but look to be waning.

Schneider and LRT were both persistent in that final quarter when some other heads were hanging a bit. Those two will be part of the next serious challenge.

Ground conditions probably didn't help us - the softness of the ground took away from our leg speed and the relative physical strength of Port became very telling.

The real test will be next week - can they bounce back physically and mentally against another very very good team?

Can't agree he's had plenty of chances - actually looking at his career he has been on a downhill slide since 1998.

He isn't quick - he turns slowly - he isn't fit enough - he is poor one on one - no prospect of improvement he is a fair player when he gets to play against poor opposition - but he isn't good enough.

Sydney were pathetictoday........lacked real heart and character in the 2nd Half

Most of you dont watch the game to closely.

Craig Bolton tried hard all day but was murdered by Cornes in the air and on the ground (Craig looked like he had a leg injury of sorts)

Warfe - Get fu$ken rid off him

Thankgod for cresswell.......the only player who stood up for 4qrs

Maxfield looked rushed and pressured everytime he got the ball

Roo's was easily outcoached in the 2nd half.......were was the accountability in the midfield and stoppages......we had to go man on man.......it was so obvious in the 3rd quarter

Maggots murdered us all day.......Adam goodes laid the tackle of the year only for it to be given high (a joke) and the leo barry scragging decision was also wrong again.

Leo Barry has to have the worst vision and perception of players around him.........way to slow and should just kick it 50m everytime down the guts when under pressure

Matthew Nicks has got to go as well........his time has well and truely gone.......time to blood Powel as his replacement

All in all a bad day from the swans.......if we took our opportunties in the 1st quarter in might have been a different story. But when the game was there to be won in the 3rd Q.......the swans were awful and lacked real heart........lack of fitness maybe
Will this be the year !!!!

...defininitely not fitness... We were playing the top side at home - it was a much better performance than against North.

Don't think you can question the fitness of the Swans considering that has what set them apart from most teams this season, To me it all comes back to the missed chances in quarter 1 when you get that many chances you have to convery, especially against quality opposition such as Port, or you are going to make life very hard for yourself.
Oh well lets hope they can bounce back into the winners circle next weekend vs Weagles

I wouldn't say they were pathetic (though two or three players played very poor).

Port are the best team we've played this year and must be favourites for the premiership. I thought the Swans played great in the first half, except for the kicking and so we didn't go into half-time with the 4-5 goal buffer we deserved. Then in the second half the 1st half effort took its toll and Port started to find more free men and beat tackles. We deserved to lose but weren't disgraced.

Warfe is a disgrace on the field. No football smarts and that OOBOTF was disgusting, it reached the 10th row almost

Put the loss in perspective there were so many contributing factors to the loss, playing away from home after a bye and playing the top team in the comp as well having not played Port at AAmi stadium for so long as well. Those ferral Port supporters didn't help and what about the umpiring those last two decisions against us summing up the poor umpiring it all contributed to what was a pretty ordinary day.Looking ahead we have 3 out of the next 4 games at home and the away game is against Carlton so what better way to take out our frustration by punishing some WA & Melbourne teams.

well, one thing it showed is that our low number of inside 50's this year is a deficiency. When we're shooting straight (as we have been) you can get away with only 38-45 inside 50's, but when you're under intense pressure, and missing those chances, it can really cost you.

Roos would be the first to acknowledge that the game we play will make us look like superstars some weeks, and chumps the next. We will only improve as a team from here.

Tiger had a master class against Wanganeen and will only benefit from it.

Schneider had a chance to play in the midfield, thanks to injury, and I think he has shown a glimpse of the player he will become.

I don't rate it a disaster. I'm disappointed, not despondent. We all had it down as a loss preseason, and only a few brave souls would've had us an excellent chance to win over the break.

Now losing NEXT week...that will REALLY set us on our heels for a bit.
Time to march for the Red and White

The umps were woeful. The amount of frees going there way for piss weak decisions was huge, and what happened to the rule where if u punch it out of the ruck and it goes out without being touched its a free?

Powell for either warfe or nicks, he has clean hands and a good brain

Wankaneen was babied by the umps all day

Bolton was not very good a t all, he couldnt keep his feet in a contest and never played in front

Where are the 50's? They got one to the retard Treadrae but they molestered our guys all day and didnt let us get off quickly
